Set up not to lose

Recommended Posts

Just watching Villa v Man City second half. The commentator said "will we see a change in Villa''s approach, in the first half they set up not to lose."Yet everyone wants Lambert back here apparently.

Now they score from their only shot on target so I don''t suppose the fans will care about dropping deep will they?Whoops, clearly offside but goal given. Great when the luck is with you.

It''s a bit different setting up not to lose to Man City at home to Hull away etc. We are now bottom 3 by the way.

Oh come on Ricardo, they are playing Man City.
Nobody would moan if we parked the bus against Man City, we moan when we do it against Fulham or Newcastle, or Reading away.

WBA everyone behind the ball. Go in front with only shot on target in an hour.Level now though, also Villa''s parity didn''t last long.

I would say we had about 70% possession and try as we might couldn''t break down the bus parked in front of the Hull goal. We also had the better chances before they were given a dodgy penalty. Anyone who viewed that as setting up defensively needs to take off the anti Hughton glasses.

Remember when we went to Old Trafford and did not have a single shot on target.

Well done Steve Clarke.

His tactics were absolutely horrendous at WHL though because we played 2 in centre midfield and therefore gave ourselves no chance of ever getting anything.

All this excitement and Swanselona still to come. There should be plenty to moan about Hughton even though we didn''t play....
So much for setting up not to lose, Ricardo.
Yes parasitic football seems to work sometimes doesn''t it. Nobody cares how defensively you approach a game as long as you take you chance when it comes along. Villa have done that this afternoon despite being totally outplayed. I woder if their forum will be full of people claiming they dropped too deep.

"Reggie Strayshun"How would you have described it then Herman ?. Looked pretty unadventurous to me, and the stats bear that out.

As things stand we are in a relegation place......

Considering the players we had available it was a strong and solid team with good counter-attacking capabilities. It didn''t work.

The way the results are going doubt he''ll last too long. I don''t hate Hughton but we''re so predictable under him, and goals win games he doesn''t seem to know how to change it!
