Seriously, why is this front page NCFC news? There is now hot topic media talk of a possible step up for NCFC ''keeper Ruddy or former City ''keeper Fraser Forster, and we have Dave Watson bigging up Butland as headline news.

Well no it is not as "simple as that", you can''t just call a current Norwich City coach an idiot without explanation, especially one who got Ruddy playing the best football of his career last season - leading to his first 2 England caps. 

I think an explanation is almost certainly required unless you want to look like an idiot yourself?

David Watson is considered one of the best, if the not the single best, goalkeeping coach in this country.

He coached Joe Hart at Birmingham, Ben Foster at Birmingham, Jack Butland at Birmingham, and is now coaching Ruddy and Rudd at Norwich (England full and U21 internationals respectively).

It was his guidance that turned Hart into the goalkeeper that we saw a couple of years ago, it was his guidance which saw Foster achieve England form and win caps, he did the same with Ruddy, and Butland came through to become one of our brightest young England prospects. Rudd has achieved Under 21 recognition since Watson arrived to steer his career. 

So how exactly is he an "idiot"? 

Watson himself was a top young keeper whose last game actually game as a 25 year old playing against Norwich City in 1998 where he suffered a career ending injury, he would have gone on to play for England himself. 

We could probably do with a few more "idiots" working with outfield players, we might have a national team then?
