I''m being forced into a corner where I believe it''s because Elmander is one of ''them furriners''. But that would at best make some posters very small minded individuals. I think like the ''How much did Watling Wallet question'' we may never know.

I turned to the dictionary and found this;

Elmander - a blow that smites and opponent, as in ''he gave him a right Elmander''.

Tierney - Old English phrase for something that turns, as in ''he twisted and tierned like a twisty tierney thing''.

 

It seems that one act was just a glancing blow from turning and the other was a blow of considerable consequence.
