Overrated, Overpaid and Over Here!

Prudence still appears to be top of the agenda! We should have splashed more cash!
Baracouda,Yes we are a well run club, which is sustainable for the medium term. However, if prudence involves paying CT to the Givt rather than spending it on players, I would rather have a bit more risk taking. I think we will all genuinely be surprised about how much cash the clu has to spend in the next window - IF we can attract the players.
Yes, but. Up to a point. A one-off splurge on players to avoid paying it out in tax potentially involves higher and longer-term wage costs. And it is wages what kill you. A key figure in the yet to be published accounts for last season and those for the current season will be the player wage/turnover ratio, which has been low by Premier League standards.

Buying players isn''t only way to avoid corporation tax ..... bonuses, dividends, buying property etc..

A good point on the increase in wages in the longer-term but it would be surprising if the figures did not show Norwich were near the bottom of the league in terms of wages and the ratio of wages to turnover. The club''s income has been increasing and the new TV deal means that we can afford a significantly higher expenditure on new players in January and an uplift in the wage bill without resorting to borrowing. One suspects that our points haul and league position in the latter part of December, together with any further serious injuries like E. Bennett, will shape the strategy for the transfer window rather than longer run considerations like expanding the ground.
