It's not that we lose to top teams we don't even have a go!
Lets clear this up. It''s not that we lost to top teams that everyone is annoyed about its that we are set up to not even have a go at the top teams.
It was an awful performance and I can see why a few want Hughton out. But lets not start saying stupid things like this comment here. How is starting with 2 strikers with Redmond and Snoddy supporting setting up negatively? It simply isn''t.....

I just think, that had we "had a go" today against that Spurs team we would have been coming away with a good old tonking, its about whether you want to hang in a game down by one or two goals with a chance to the end and with limited impact on your goal difference or.....be 3-0 down at half time and 6-0 after ninety minutes. As things happened, had RVW scored what was a relatively easy chance we would have been in the game despite our lack of possesion.

We were not that negative its just too many players didn''t turn up regardless of how Hughtons telling them how to play. Johnson for instance was abysmal and a fan could of took his place and we''d of not been any worse off!

If it really was the case that some players simply ''didn''t turn up'' might it be argued that their motivation was not what it should have been or, alternatively, their belief and/or ability to follow the manager''s tactics is not what it could have been?

Spurs were able to push their full backs forward and outnumber us.

Walker instinctively gets forward and Ukraine exploited this. We were not set up to exploit the space behind the full backs so came forward with impunity.

You have to cause opposition defensive problems or they will blow you away. An example of this is the Man City side of two seasons ago when sides just sat back and suffered before learning how to give Manc more to think about.

Also, two seasons ago when arguably the gulf between our sides was far greater than today we went at Spurs from the off and threw them off their game.

Sit back and take pressure and you will concede. Tackle and you are doing so in riskier areas if you don''t press forward, there are more ways to defend than in a siege mentality or in trenches. Also, get forward and you use more of your players rather than isolate them.

We were screwed after the first goal, up to then we might as well have had a go.
