The closing down has been awful! As a team who tends to specialise in being hard to beat and tough defending. It seems the players are willing to let the villa players run at our goal without anyone closing down! Against a team like Villa it''s as good as shooting yourself in the foot!

Still picking Howson as a Holding Midfielder. What does he offer? Not defensively as good as BJ or Tettey, and seems to offer little going forward as he just sits. He offers no range of passing.

Howson looks best when powering forward from midfield, something he isn''t able/allowed to do in this role.

I''m not sure about the midfield at all.  Every time Villa break, they seem to be running at our back four, and yet every time we attack we seem to be relying on Elmander to scrap for it.  What exactly are the two central midfielders contributing?

well players have to take a look in a mirror. Hughton''s tactics apart from defending have been spot on and we have been in dangerous areas trough the game.

Both centrebacks were crappy today. Specially Bassong seemed to be out of position all the time, but at the end our midfield doesnt support them enough and again as against Tottenham space between our midfield and defence is way too big.

Elmander has been drifting out of game from the start and RvW does great ammount of work, but he has to score from rare chances he gets.
