I don''t think it would change the hearts of any supporters. It would, however, just be so much extra noise. They could change their name to The Norwich City Rapists and I''d still support them. But do you really want to have to defend this kind of shameless rebranding every time you''re watching a game with friends? I don''t.

I doubt anyone would bring it up but if they did, it wouldn''t be in the form of an attack as my friends, like me, don''t get fussed about these sorts of things.

Unless the name change was to your suggestion of Rapists but if that became our name I think most of the rest of the world would be wondering why.

As it is, our current name does take some ''splaining so I mention the bravery of canaries checking gas levels in coal mines and just flat out lie when I tell my students that canaries are pound-for-pound the strongest bird. Then I laugh and tell them the truth and remind them we beat Man U, Manc, Arsenal, Spurs and Everton last season.
