Fer has to start for me, I think he will be head and shoulders above the rest if the players on the pitch if he does and will bring out the best in RVW too.

It is so difficult this week to even think about a team as there are so many doubts.

We know Bennett is out but what about Snodgrass, Bassong, Pilkington and Hooper?

Are they in or out.

Can anyone tell me if Elmander is up to speed or is he further behind with his season than other players?

The manager will have this information so I think I will just sit back and wait!

But I still feel there will a surprise or two with the line-up this week.

For me and assuming Bassong is fit but Pilks & Hoops is not yet ready I would go

                Ruddy

Martin  Bassong  Turner  Garrido

Snodgrass  Fer Tettey  Redmond

Elmander (or Wes if Johan not yet ready)

                  RvW

Tettey staying deep - Fer mobile and elmander providing the link to wolfie.

Happy to swap whittaker for martin or howson or johnson for tettey.

I hope Leroy Fer gets tried in an attacking position behind the striker sometime this season. I would guess Hughton will use him in the more defensive role first and we might see him moving up the pitch later in the season

He played well in behind RVW in preseason game grdean, first half against Parathenicos I think, then he dropped back second half and looked good there as well! Hughton has soooo many options.

Lots of similar line ups but, as we''re away;

Ruddy

Whittaker - Turner -Bassong - Garrido

Tettey - Fer

Redmond - Elmander - Olsson

RvW

Of course that is fitness dependant. If fit, I would put Snodders and Pilks for Redmond and Olsson.

From the little that I''ve seen of Fer, he look more comfortable and was more effective playing deeper. Having said that, his ability in the air in particular when he was further forward really did add something.

Cant see Elmander being thrown straight in. Think Hughton see''s Bassong as a must and Snodgrass will start due to Bennets injury.

Ruddy

Whittiker-Martin-Bassong-Garrido

Snodgrass-Johnson-Fer-Howson-Redmond

RvW

This is the side i reckon Hughton will be thinking although we are away and could play a more defence minded LM in Olsson.

Will also be interesting to see who he deploys where in central midfield. Am thinking Howson behind RvW due to Fer being more of a box to box midfielder and more of a big presence in that central area.
