Letting players go before we sign replacements

Recommended Posts

Of course none of us know the full facts but Holty must have been an influential leader in the dressing room and throughout the club. There may well be some within the coaching staff with lesser personalities or character that will be pleased if he does go.

I just hope the fantastic perfomances in our last two games were planned and came from said coaching staff.

This is a brave decision and hope that there are indeed some quality signings in the pipeline.

Heres something I am going to just throw in!Some years ago a club captain was sold, the decision was unpopular with the fans. Turned out he wasn''t so well liked and popular as he liked to think he was, in fact a lot of the players were glad to see him go.I''m not implying anything, merely saying we do not have all the fact behind this, and should just trust that the club management have made the right decision.

we must not forget that we have a proven Prem squad now
Of which Holt and Ruddy are crucial components, right? These aren''t fringe players, these are huge huge players for us.
I never mentioned Ruddy in this context, whom I hope will stay. (Nonetheless,  we had to do without him for a big part of the season.) Holt, on the other hand, clearly did not enjoy the role Hoots made him play, and with the arrival of RvW (and probably another striker) he''d be very likely to become a fringe player, isn''t he?

This early in the close season is fine - 2 days before the window closes is  a different matter.

Keep calm - this is going to be an amazing summer for ncfc fans - enjoy it!

Not trying to be perdantic, but haven''t we already signed a number 9/Holt replacement? Not that he has been directly labeled as so, but I can see why Holt wants to move on.

Yes we need a couple of other new strikers to complete the squad but they won''t be Holt replacements and shouldn''t be labeled as such, it''s not fair on them as they are bound to fail under that expectation.

Clubs surely know we are in the market for strikers, whether its to fill a gap or replace someone so they can be moved on is it really likely to affect the sale price? Either way we want the striker concerned.

Well, technically, we haven''t let anybody go as of yet who a direct replacement is needed.

Yes, it looks like Holt is on his way but it''s not finalised, let''s be honest he could well fail his medical since it''s pre-season ;)

Also looks like Ruddy might be on his way, but yet again, not confirmed.

Probably worth waiting-and-seeing. Season hasn''t started yet!

Years of gradual decline and misery followed by four glorious years have some what clouded the judgement here. Fans always like to project onto players what they wish and this happens with GH. He is an ideal candidate for this kind of behaviour - more effort than skill. It is time to face facts - he doesn''t want to be here and the club don''t want him here either. Also, to tell the truth unless the fans want to remain Champs/lower prem standard they shouldn''t want him either. His style just encourages lumping the ball forward. If we are to have pacey attacking passing football he is not the man.

The sentimentality is understandable though.

Totally disagree with this - Holt always looked his best when linking up with Hoolahan on the deck, playing at times some very slick one touch football under Lambert''s style of football. Very unfair, and also incorrect to label him in the ''hoofball'' bracket - will always remember him for his sharp footballing brain. He will be missed - I suspect both inside and outside of the changing room.

A clever player yes, but technically limited and the dirtiest player in the Prem. Too slow the beat defenders for pace so was alsways looking for a "battle" with the CBs. Will be missed by the fans for this alone and perhaps the remnants of the Lambert old guard but not by the Hughton''s signings and others at the club where he is perhaps not as well liked as you imagine.
