all good players but you are missing the point... no one is saying holt is the best player we have ever had but no one player has had a bigger impact and been such an inspiration... remember watford away in the championship the bloke could barely walk at the end and we all thought he was out for the season, a few days later he was scoring the equaliser against forest, i''ve been a fan since the early 80s and i can''t remember anyone capturing the hearts of the fans like holt , the fact that he carried a bit of timber made it all the better when he was riling poncey premier league defenders, for his exploits against the scum alone he deserves to be imortalised ... tell you what lets wait 50 years til we''ve all pegged it and then put his name on a brick or something ? sorry but the hall of fame just isn''t enough foe this bloke , we should show some real class , gratitude and respect and put up as big a statue as the council will allow outside carrow road.....  Captain - Leader - Legend

Is it too much to ask to wait just a few years until he retires? It is far too early to think about doing anything like this. We could build one this season and next season he could do a Bellamy and celebrate like mad after scoring against us. He could move to Ipswich in a year. Or he could score the goal which relegates us if Wigan go back up. It would be a bit bizarre, creepy even, to honour a 32 year old who is still active in the game just after we flog him. Makes much more sense to do it in five years when he is Huckerby''s age.
But even then, if we were to erect say five statues behind the Barclay of former icons, I''d certainly want the subjects to be determined by a democratic vote by club members and season ticket holders. You are letting your emotions get the better of you. The first man to be honoured with a statue should be Geoffrey Watling, without him there would not be a Norwich City. His family can come and unveil it.
Then we can think about a former manager, out of whom I can think of no one better than Ken Brown, a man who won us a trophy at Wembley (which Lambert didn''t achieve), and twice took us up from the Championship (two promotions just like Lambert), once as champions (which Lambert didn''t achieve), he led us also to our highest place finish in the top division (5th) which has since been beaten of course but which put our club/city firmly on the map. We beat Ipswich in the semi-final in 1985. Forget about our 5-1, we actually beat Ipswich in the semi-final at Wembley, not too many years after they were European champions. These aren''t the clubs only great times.
The problem with some people is that they just completely ignore history. In thirty years you will be moaning about young kids saying stuff like "Jack James is out best number 9 ever, give him a statue" by saying stuff like "If only you had seen the great Grant Holt". You are doing the same by ignoring our history.
After we honour Watling and one of our most successful managers we can think about honouring a few players, of which there will be a good 10 to 15 from the 60''s to the current in the mix, of which Grant Holt is just one.
If we build five statues in a few years time then Holt will be in with a shout, but proclaiming him as the greatest of all time isn''t a sign of your great respect towards Holt but rather a sign of your lack of respect of our history and the greats that have gone before him.

Forgive me, the semi-final was not at Wembley, but it was two legs. One at Carrow Road, one at Portman Road, and we beat them. We actually beat Ipswich in the semi-final of a competition that we won. Learn and remember these great moments, even if - like me - you didn''t get to experience them.
