Robert911 0 Posted July 8, 2013 It appears that by being 1 year older his value has decreased. There are many economic factors behind this. One could write a thesis on this. It may also be due to the strong Euro to Pound conversion rates and the aundance of Euros in la Liga
Gingerpele 0 Posted July 8, 2013 Rediclious, a World Cup, European cup, Champions League winner with a fantastic goal scoring record at the highest level for many years costs more than Holt. What ever is McNally thinking letting Holt go this cheap...
Juggy 0 Posted July 8, 2013 Why are you both assuming that the OP considers this bad deal, perhaps he is saying it is a good deal? The reality is of course that David Villa went extremely cheap, probably because he is on £100k+ a week, and the Holt fee is undisclosed and will remain so. Athletico aren''t going to pay a huge fee for a player who has probably shattered their wage ceiling, and for all we know we could have flogged Holt for £500k plus add-ons. In fact, wouldn''t surprise me at all if much of whatever fee we got is linked to Wigan getting promoted - easier said than done.

BroadstairsR 2,093 Posted July 9, 2013 If Holt''s fee was £2m (fee undisclosed) I would bet that there will be add-ons dependent upon his goal tally or even upon Wigan getting back amongst the big money at the first attempt.
Mister Chops 7 Posted July 9, 2013
Grant Holt, age 32 Norwich to Wigan £2.0mDavid Villa, age 31 Barcelona to Athletico £4.4mDiscuss.
I would postulate, based on available data, a hypothesis that a player''s transfer fee is driven by his quality, experience and age. Golly, now that would be surprising. If GH(32)>Wigan = 2,000,000andDV(31)>Barcelona = 4,400,000then can you calculateFF(?) Celtic > Chelsea = ?CB(?) Aston Villa >Man City = ?CA (?) Burnley > Norwich = ?
