Tetteys Jig 830 Posted July 11, 2013 I usually like to look at the transfer specials to get a rough idea of how close a transfer may be but I just spotted this:Gareth Bale is 3/1 to leave Tottenham this windowGareth Bale is 5/2 joint favourite to join Man U or Real Madrid. So in summary, Gareth Bale is more likely to leave Tottenham for anyone than he is to leave to join either one of Man U or Real Madrid.I understand betting works on what money has been staked already, but this is just downright ridiculous! Mister Chops 7 Posted July 11, 2013 Unless I''m being dim, 5/2 is 2.5/1, making the odds more in favour of him joining Man U or Real Madrid.Still, not sure why you wouldn''t stick £10 on 3/1 as if he leaves, he leaves.
Tetteys Jig 830 Posted July 11, 2013 so you can either stick a tenner on 3 things:£10 on bale going to Man U nets you £35 if successful£10 on bale going to Real Madrid nets you £35 if successful£10 on bale joining ANYONE (including the 2 teams above) nets you £40 if successful. Therefore, if you thught he was going to united or madrid, you might as well take the last bet anyway. CDMullins 436 Posted July 11, 2013 No one bets on ''What they think will happen''Its all about inside knowledge, it is also a market which can easily be manipulated by the bookies. In reality you''d struggle to get any real amount of money on anything, if you had inside knowledge. Thirsty Lizard 3,155 Posted July 11, 2013 Jimmy - in betting - as in life - it always pays to read the small print and get all the relevant details before entering into any transaction.I can''t find the Gareth Bale market, but I strongly suspect that the 5/2 for Bale to join Man Utd or Real Madrid is for him to join them as the next club he moves to - not necessarily just in this transfer window. If that was the case the odds Skybet are offering for this market would make perfectly good sense.
