Kyle Naughton

Recommended Posts

Do you think that there remains any prospect of seeing this man back in a Norwich shirt or has that boat sailed?

Last summer it was said that Naughton was priced at £6m and that we couldn''t afford it. I don''t know whether that price would now be £9m, but £6m for a full back of his caliber sounds like a snip to me?

I would have liked him back, but we are not at the stage where £6m is a "snip", that is a lot of money for a full back. I think that boat has well and truly sailed.

With Hughton''s connections at Spurs, let''s hope we can get him back.

He''s class and will make our backline look a lot better.

If we are serious about progressing the club we need to be willing to pay a decent fee for all our players - not just the attackers. Also Naughton''s proven quality. Hooper is untried -  though some people here are ok with us chucking 5mil for him.

The guy is quality and expect will earn an England camp in the not so distant future. We bulked at paying 4.5M in Jan 2012, if we could get him now for a couple of mill extra we should do it. The guy is a huge upgrade on any of our FBs; he would have won player of the season (IMO) if he had been a Norwich City player, rather than a loanee, while here.
I am not sure why people don''t see RB as a position to improve. Martin and Whittaker are both sturdy players at RB, but neither have great pace and both can suffer up against some of the  better prem league wingers, we could do with an upgrade. I also think Martin could be used primarily as a CB, i''ve been saying it for a while and now the player has admitted it''s where he wants to play and what they have been working on in training - i expect that was why we were not in for Davies.

He struggles to replace Walker at RB, so has played at LB, but I think that he is far less impressive on the left. We already have two useful players on the right who are in competition. If he is much younger, there might be a case for the medium term, but a specialist LB is more our need at the moment.

Kyle is a great full back and a cut above any we have at the club - I would love to see him back here and he would be value for money.

However its not a priority position right now so would not spend the money there - use in centre midfield

Unless Whittaker concentrated on trying to oust Garrido?

Naughton would be first choice if he joined.

Russell Martin did look for a bit like his time might have been up when Whittaker was firing on all cylinders but he provided excellent cover at CB and took the right back slot away from Whittaker. Tough to know what to do with them should we go in for Naughton.

I guess R Martin may try and battle Turner and Bennett to the CB slot?

That''s no excuse. Naughton with his pace would deal with the likes of Bale better than our current options would.

Don''t understand peoples logic here. Whittaker can play left back, so we would have Garrido/Whittaker left back, and Naughton/Martin right back.

That means that we wouldn''t need a new left back. Naughton is better than anything that we have at the club.

"He struggles to replace Walker at RB, so has played at LB, but I think that he is far less impressive on the left"

Another way to look at that is that for a large chunk of the season he kept Assou-Ekotto out of the team, and I can remember people suggesting we sign him last year!

Don''t really see why people rate Martin or Whittaker as any better than Garrido to be honest, all similar standard in my opinion, all have weaknesses in their game.

I am a massive fan of naughton.

If we have enough money for him, a winger, striker, attacking midfielder and fer then that would be unreal. I do not think we have.

But who knows. Can''t wait to see many different first team faces in our line up as we move up a level in quality

I think Kyle Naughton teaming up with Snodgrass or Redmond down the right could be worth more goals than another striker. His delivery is exceptional.

Seems to be going for Southampton at least if you believe tabloids.

Would love to see him here and move Martin as third choise CB that we can sell Barnett even if we dont get new starter for that position.

Seems to me there''s a lot to be said for players who can play (well) in more than one position... I''d have him back in a shot, even at a high price...

I think Naughton isn''t needed as we have 4 full backs already. Also I was a bit wary of his positioning which could be quite suspect. Also don''t think he is near the England team

Can''t remember if Naughton was more left sided. But I do have my concerns over the right back, I don''t rate Whittaker as much as some do on here. We could do with a good right back to challenge Martin.

Just my opinion.

I personaly dont care if he is near national team or not, but for me he is clearly upgrade for what we have now for going both ways. Whittaker seems to struggle to stay fit and Martin as good and solid he is, he doesnt offer much in build up plays for last third of the pitch.

I can only repeat earlier comments - I really rate Naughton and he is a step up on Martin & whittaker.

However both have proved good enough for the prem and are still improving,   on the left we now seem sorted.    Sign him by all means,    but right back is far less a priority than centre midfielder,  striker or centre back options first.
