Fabio Quagliarella

Recommended Posts

I just can''t see us attracting him.

I have no doubt that Juventus can be appeased by what we have to offer but I don''t think we have a shiny enough profile to get him here.

Ignore what Sam says I think he''ll end up there and have all along - as earlier posts show. David Gold was on SSN the other day saying that he had rather Sam brought in another striker than Downing but trusted his judgement and that new signings would come in IF they sold a player or two ... rumours are that Vaz Te is being sold as I type.

Nothing is confirmed as yet. Today we have the Guardian quoting Big Sam as saying that he''s not signing anyone else this summer, and Ian Abrahams from Talksport saying that Quagliarella is going to West Ham for a medical. At least one of them is going to be wrong.

And given that Elmander has denied even having a Twitter account, with the amount of posts on here telling us what he''d said on Twitter, it shows that it''s not a medium to be trusted (come to think of it, I''d probably have more trust in what a Medium said - anyone got a Ouija board?)

Signing a more or less Premier League proven 32 year old striker on a season long loan sounds like much better business to me, than signing a 31 year old Italian who has never played in the Premier League before, for a £7-8m transfer fee, plus huge wages.

What I know at the minute is that West Ham have increased the loan fee in their loan offer to Juventus for FQ. It is under consideration, but Juventus still want money now and FQ off the wage bill. La Gazzetta dello Sport reported Norwich are now prepared to fight for FQ.

Maybe the Elmander signing has reinforced the quality that the likes of FQ would have to compete with - and either he''s up for the challenge or he will go elsewhere! I think the message has been given out that we are not going to be beholden to any players whims (so long Ola T)

Our odds have gone from8/1 back to 5/1. West Ham remain 4/11.

My son is an ardent Hammer (don''t ask - I did my best) and he says that the consensus of their fans is that they are broke and still £12m in debt so must sell before they can buy. It is fascinating and frustrating. I want him o come here but also jus t want it sorted one way or the other.

Then again, last time I felt that way was about one Gary Hooper.

I am not doubting his quality, but do we really want another drawn out Hooper debacle.  Surely there''s an alternative CAM (somewhere in the whole wide world) that would at least be as viable as spunking this much money on a pensioner?
Any more news on this?
Yes. It''s been going on for so long that I''ve run out of witty remarks to make about him that rhyme with Qatar. However, I don''t think he''ll be signing for West Ham, as he''s not keen on their style of play under big Sam, plus they''re broke and can only offer him a white Ford Escort van. I thank you, and good night!

Yes, I am happy with Hooper.  But it was a bit embarassing especially with all of the jokes posted on twitter in January by the Celtic players.  It was not just the embarrassment with Hooper, it was the apparent blinkered approach that Hooper and RVW were our only targets, there was no plan b so we panicked and got Becchio.

I have no problem with actively persuing a target, but you also must try and avoid embarrassment, after all we are no longer little old Norwich and you must also identify other targets.

Also not forgetting survival was a bit too close for comfort!

Don''t think I''ve ever seen 1,000 posts before in one thread, so thought I would add another to help it get there.

Is this an all time post number record?
I hope he''s still at Juve come September 2. Just think how many posts we''ll have on this thread by the time January 1 gets here.

Really don''t get what is meant to be embarrassing in our alleged pursuit of Quagliarella, Slim old bean. Afterall, look how long Real Madrid have been after Bale?!.

There are a handful of the ''Age And Obsessed With Resale Value Police'' on here that don''t want Quagliarella, already dismissed him as a Premier League flop before he''s been given a chance because they have a view he''s some pansy geriatric Italian (''Ittalyons dunt sattle in Naaarfolk Neyal''). But hopefully the board will have the same view as the vast majority and do everything in their power to convince the same bloke that dumped Chelsea out of the Champions League on English soil that Norwich City is a club that harbours the same high ambitions as himself. Be really surprised if we got him tbh, still think West Ham are in the driving seat but fingers crossed...
