Does that explain why we struggle to get the ball out wide more quickly?
I''ve heard a few, not entirely 100% on their credibility though;

Brazil are the only country to have appeared at every single world cup tournament.

To rectify the post above, Hakan Sukur of Turkey currently holds the fastest world cup goal at 11 seconds.

Geoff Hurst only player to score a hat-trick in a world cup final (a feat I emulated on Fifa last night!)

Sir Stanley Matthews was never booked in his entire 33 years as a footballer.

The first ever televised match was at Highbury.

Pele is the only player to win three world cups.

Vinnie Jones has the record for the quickest booking in a top flight match - 3 seconds.
Depends. He played in the winning teams in 1958 and 1970, including in the two finals, scoring in both. In 1962 he played early on but got injured and didn''t play in any of the knock-out rounds. Quite possibly he still qualified for a winner''s medal.

Ebbsfleet United (previously Gravesend and Northfleet United) hold the record for the longest continuous run in the FA Cup over a season.  They began their campaign in August 1962 and eventually got knocked out in an FA Cup 3rd Round replay against Sunderland in the middle of March 1963 after the atrocious winter weather of early 1963 caused recurrent postponements.

The largest ever margin of victory in a match was 149-0 in the Madagascan league. All of them were own-goals from the losing team, in protest at refereeing descisions.

There are more stars in the universe than grains of sand on planet earth. Sand is found on a beach....football is often played on the beach.....that''s the very weak link.

If you were to put a one pound coin on the bottom left square of a chessboard, two coins on the next, four on the next and so on, doubling every time until the 64th square, you would end up spending £18,446,744,073,709,551,615. Enough for a new City Stand AND some bespoke balconies on the hotel...

2^64 i believe...

I once conned someone out of their dinner money by charging them 100% interest on a loan of 10p they took out. I ended up with a few quid after a week or two! I knew I was onto something (Wonga.com)

Ola Toivonon is actually French he was born and raised in Marseille of Algerian parents, he has adopted the bizarre habit of speaking faux Swedish with a dodgy Swedish accent in all interviews to further his claim at being the Swedish Joey Barton. This is a FACT!!!!

Football fans are 438% more likely to make up a statistical based fact in close season before the transfer window than they are at any other time of the year.

Facts:Germany lost the First ever penalty shootout.Sheffield Wednesday are so named as the founders were miners who could only get Wednesdays off.someone mentioned Bournemouth earlier.. the AFC was only chosen so that in an Alphabetical list of English teams they will always appear first.on the 5th december 1931 Newcastle and portsmouth played a match without a single corner being awarded....Every Letter of the alphabet other than Z has appeared in team names since 1888.

Portsmouth ?Bournemouth, Torquay and even Exeter are more southerly than Portsmouthso it is Plymouth who are the most westerly and southerlyand Northampton are I think the most middly, being the furthest from the sea

and ipswich is merely the thickest, which is not technically a geographical measurement
