lappinitup 629 Posted June 25, 2013 Several countries on the continent pronounce the letter ''W'' as a ''V''. So how do you pronounce Ricky van Wolfswinkel''s name? Is it as it is written.....Ricky van WolfsWinkelor the Germanic.....VolfsVinkelA combination of the two perhaps.....WolfsVinkelor the reverse.....VolfsWinkelAnd then there''s the ''Van'' bit........ TCCANARY 263 Posted June 25, 2013 This is what Vikipedia says "Ricky van Wolfswinkel (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈrɪki vɑn ˈʋɔɫfsˌʋɪŋkəɫ]; "Pretty comprehensive reply, should ensure that there are no more arguments about this.

Salopian 1 Posted June 25, 2013 In Germany, I can''t speak for Holland, V is pronounced as F and W as V. Hence a VW car is called a FAU VAY. I expect that if he does well, which we all fervently hope, he will be known affectionately as either Ricki or as Wolfie.
Yelloow Since 72 54 Posted June 25, 2013 Or simply as the wolf, unless he scores a lot of hat-tricks, in which case it could be ''Hat-TRicky as it was in the Netherlands!
