Hughton's After Match Interview

Recommended Posts

Did anybody think this showed he was tactically inept? He clearly identified that Aston Villa had a weakness for crossing, and said i wanted to players to get crosses in to the box, ok thats fair enough, so one of two things had to happen yesterday, 1 play 442 and have Kamara and Holt in the box to win headers off the crosses or 2 play Kamara instead of Holt, either way, Kamara had to play, he is are best header of the ball!

Helps if the cross stays away from the Keeper as well, wasnt just the players in the box, it was the poor crossing too close to the keeper.

One time we did cross to the Pen Spot away from the keeper he made a right hash or it, only a whisker away from Holty header

Quite right. Too many times recently the intent has been there, without proper execution. Delivery has been poor for the last 2 games. Begovic had an easy time against us when we kept clipping crosses in for catching practice.

Also I''m not sure Holt was doing a lot of the time yesterday. Mincing around on the edge of the box when the wingers had the ball about to cross. He wasn''t showing much desire to get in the box on the end of it.
