Peter 0 Posted February 9, 2004 The Football pundit in the Racing post reckons that all the teams in the Div1, promotion picture are toilet, and any that get promoted will all be relegated and all are worse than Leeds. He may well be right but even if he is right not one will be £90 million + in debt, after 10 years in the top flight you would expect them to have a better team than any Div 1 pretenders, but an even better bet is that if Leeds do not go out of business they will not get out of the Division for many years unless its down. These pundits forget sometimes about the absolute c**p that passes for Division 1 teams. no1canary 0 Posted February 9, 2004 Leeds have got a better squad than any div 1 team but what about the 3 that went up? We are better than Wolves, most likely Leicester and maybe Portsmouth. If atleast 1 of them stayed up then I bet we''ll come higher than them in the Prem!
Archie 0 Posted February 9, 2004 theres a differnece between top players and a top squad.leeds have better players than us, but there is no togetherness within their squad, and as i''ve said many times before, the teams that stay up have a squad of players that stick together through thick and thin, not a bunch of prima donnas, ie leeds
John Boubepo 0 Posted February 9, 2004 Leeds still have some decent players who just aren''t putting it together, unfortunately for them when they are relegated all of those top players will be off, the ones who are good enough might be lucky enough to get into a newly promoted team but then maybe not! Steve White 24 Posted February 9, 2004 Apart from the financial problems, Leeds committed the cardinal sin of signing loads of below par foreign players in the close season - when the going gets tough, its the home grown players who put in the effort e.g Smith and the like. Portsmouth seem to be doing the same, which will probably seal their fate, Leicester signed about 6 players, all of whom had a very bad record of staying fit, and Wolves were always limited. If Norwich do go up, they must be careful with who they sign - Crouch would be a good one, a centre back, right winger a creative midfielder and an experienced Premier league player who is classy - Bergkamp or Di Canio type- remember what effect Martin Peters had when he came to us. Roberts has been a great servant to the club, but one year on, in the Premier League - sorry, no way. Let him stay with the club in another capacity.
