I Think The Third Relegation Spot Has Just Been Booked

Yes, a bad result for Norwich. Stoke are likely safe now. However, if we can get the job done against WBA, I still think Sunderland will be the one for the drop.

If Sunderland beat Southampton at home they will be above us on GD even if we beat WBA. We really needed Sunderland to lose this game.

Sunderland on 38, Southampton on 39 so either team wins at the weekend  one of them will still be below 40 points.  Even a draw means they will both be 40 points or less.     41 points puts us in a good position going into the final weekend - roll on WBA.

Of course we did Paul, and most savvy posters realised that. However, given Sunderland''s injuries and suspensions and the fact they have the worst home scoring record other than QPR, I think they may find it difficult to get the win they need against Southampton. We obviously have to beat WBA. If we don''t we deserve the outcome of other results going against us.

Ideal situation would be for Southampton to beat Sunderland and leave them with Spurs away as last game. We still need another point though at least. A win is what we should be going all out for, but a point may give us a chance.

Sunderland showed quite a bit of fight and spirit despite going a goal and a man down.   The sort of thing we need to show on Sunday if things start to go against us.  Stoke were probably happy to play out a draw that pretty much guarantees their safety.

You''re naively discounting GD if Sunderland beat Southampton and Southampton beat Stoke, who are now safe.

Nobody seems to have mentioned Fulham, 40 points, home to Liverpool, away to Swansea. They may well end up with 40

They''re still in it, for sure, but one point will be enough for them against two teams with nothing to play for as GD is good.

That point when they were behind and down to 10 men says otherwise to me.They have the best GD down there too. Its between us , Newcastle and Norwich  with Wigan favourites to beat the drop for me

Sorry but its Ipswich next season[/quote]Coupled with w*nk reffing against Sunderland, Arsenal and Villa in recent matches. Plus the lack of our 1st choice keeper. There''s plenty of things that have added to it. It''s never 1 thing. All we can do now is pray and hope and try to believe. No point moping or crying about anything (yet). Let''s start by seeing what tonight''s match brings as matches elsewehere will influence our destiny too. Last night''s match was another influence on it. Sunderland are not safe and although the point is big for them, they''re also without Fletcher, Sessegnon and Gardner and have a dangerous game next against Southampton (who aren''t safe either) and then Spurs away who are fighting for 4th and very much on form. Newcastle need something from QPR (look at what Reading did to Fulham away from home) and even a draw is going to be seen a points lost there with them having Arsenal left to play who are also fighting for top 4 and well on form

Wigan certainly missed an opportunity to apply some serious pressure tonight. They must be the favorite now, but we could still fall through the trap door. Lets go win that game v''s WBA and settle this once and for all...
