A poem for sunday....

Recommended Posts

The time is nearing; it will be judgement day,

City fans around the world will watch and pray.

Will this will be our time, our moment of glory,

All we need is a win, oh god, please surely!

The nerves are here and the excitement high,

This will be our moment, its do or die.

Nails will be bitten; people can''t bear to see,

Go out there boys and show who you can be.

Make us proud; Make it a day not to forget,

One to tell the grandchildren when the ball hit the net.

The crowd will be roaring, sea of yellow and green,

For true Norwich fans you will know what this means!

The football''s dire while Hughton''s boss,

Some think Holt can''t give a toss.

Chef Exec needs to get it sorted

Before the club is aborted.

One thing''s for sure: while we''re sinkin''

Pant wetters will hold forth on the Pink Un.

Hughton''s the manager of a team,

who can''t score many, It does seem

They''ll get one last chance, at carrow road

oh please, City...let it be a bucket load...!!!

Premiership football began

In nineteen ninety-three

(which was rather late for me) -

Between the end of the first Iraq War

And the Spice Girls'' first LP.

Up to then there''d only been

League Division One.An hour a week on the BBC

And six pages in the Sun.

Then all at once the money trap -

"Not losing" was to blame

And every game became

An expensive, often joyless scrap,

A quite unenjoyable game.

So football was arguably better

Before nineteen ninety-three

(Though still too late for me) -

Between the end of the first Iraq War

And the Spice Girls'' first LP.
