Results needed over the weekend

Recommended Posts

Obviously a City win would be the best result if we win we stay up, but when do we ever beat WBA at Carrow Rd, if not a win a draw maybe enough but a loss would be another disaster after last week. Looking at the worst scenario we are defeated, no points at City need Wigan to lose final 2 games to get there following results are required.

Chelsea to take at least point from Villa.

Tottenham to beat Stoke

Liverpool to beat Fulham

Newcastle to beat QPR

Sunderland to beat Southampton

Those results mean with one game to go points as follows:

Sunderland 41

Newcastle 41

Stoke 40

Fulham 40

Villa 40

Southampton 39

A Villa win against Wigan would take them to 43 and climb to 12th in the table their best position and worth another £4 or £5m. Villa the form team at the bottom and if they beat Wigan 12th position the reward.

Could we survive at the behest of Paul Lambert who needs this result to get to their best position.

Would like to do the business Sunday but may need Arsenal and Villa to do us a big favour.

That''s just bizarre.

Perhaps I''m misunderstanding but if we lose our last two games, why would we want a team below us to win?

We need QPR to find some pride and beat Newcastle. Ideally, beat them soundly. That leaves Newcastle facing Arsenal who want that Champions League place so desperately. It would go to goal difference but would give us a chance there too.

It''s not just Wigan surely?

Only 2 results matter, Chelsea beating Villa and and us beating WBA see''s us safe. Couldn''t care less what happens elsewhere as long as that happens.

If we only take a point then we need Arsenal to beat Wigan on Tuesday night which will also see us safe.

Two main results we need this weekend (apart from our own of course)

Chelsea to beat Villa this afternoon (looking at the table, if they lose and both Tottenham and Arsenal win they could lose their Champions League place so plenty of motivation for them)

Tottenham to beat Stoke (with Arsenal not playing til Tuesday, this will be an opportunity for them to move into 3rd or 4th - so plenty of motivation for them too).

Chelsea beating Villa important because of the final game Wigan v Villa (they cant both win)

Tottenham win important because it will mean when Arsenal play Wigan on Tuesday Arsenal will have to win.

That said, even if Tottenham lose and Chelsea lose, Arsenal will still be pretty motivated to win against Wigan as it will be their chance to capitalise and clinch the place.

You always worry if some teams are on the beach at this stage of the season. Neither Chelsea or Arsenal should be, which is good news for us.

Man City might be, but I highly doubt we''re capable of getting anything there seeing we''ve had one away win all season

Exactly, I can''t see why people need to overcomplicate the matter.

Im praying for an Arsenal win. After the dodgy curry drama and the last 3 minutes at the Emirates this season, we all know Arsenal wont be allowed to not beat Wigan surely?

I am completely convinced Arsenal have a guardian angel at the FA, moreso than Wigan do. Arsenal are more important to the brand.

Like a celebrity whose country lets them off when theyve done wrong because they''re too important (*Coughs* Oscar Pistorius), Arsenal will surely be guided to a win against Wigan.

Have faith in corruption!
