A summary of what's needed to stay up

Recommended Posts

A win on Sunday and that''s it, job done. We can all relax and enjoy the run in!

A draw tomorrow and Wigan would need to get 4 points to catch us, assuming we lose at Man City. That would mean them having to get something at Arsenal on Tuesday.

A draw does also keep things in our hands, whatever the other results between now and the final day. We would have to secure another point at Man City though to be sure of survival. 40 points for us will be enough, though of course I wouldn''t want to rely on 2 draws!! Wigan would have to avoid defeat at the Emirates on Tues in any case.

A defeat would be a problem as Wigan could catch us with just 1 win, assuming again we lose at Man City. If Wigan fail to beat Arsenal on Tuesday, then Villa are safe, so in this scenario they would be playing a team who have nothing to play for, unless you bring prize money per place into the equation - at £750k per place and the league so tight, that could make a big difference to Lamberts summer transfer pot, so perhaps something small to cling to.

End result, of course we want to win tomorrow, but at all costs, WE SIMPLY MUST NOT LOSE. That''s not negative or a Hughton-ism, just purely a fact based on the above.

We won''t get spanked by Man.C.

Their players have lost all confidence now, didn''t watch them the other day but many said they were poor and not really interested.

They might have a point to prove next weekend now... playing for contracts and large pots of money tends to focus the Man City minds.

On the other hand, Wigan''s win today may have hammered any complacency out of the Arsenal players that might have been there if it had been a heavy defeat.

Let''s just hope we can get the 3 points tomorrow and let the other teams battle it out, although I''m not sure that''s the Norwich way :-)

all becomes clear this time tomorrow - where eyes turn to the emirates on tuesday before either joy or goth levels of despair and norwich samaritans man their phones...

little point judging more until then - and in the meantime just need teh city players to do what they are capable of tomorrow afternoon.

Funny, but 2 points would definately, as villa would need at least a draw then vs wigan who themselves would need 5 (well 6) points. Both can''t happen.

I''d still rather sort it tomorrow.
