Ajax was my first thought too, Banana.

who do you expect, OP?

Munich? Dortmand? Madrid? Barca? those kind of games are like very fancy restaurants. have to book months(seasons) in advanced

Leicester had to pay Real Madrid £1m to play at the Walkers Stadium. We shouldn''t pay to play teams (well certainly not £1m)!

Ajax is good enough for me.

"We shouldn''t pay to play teams (well certainly not £1m)!"eh ?Clubs need to cover their costs and should be free to charge as much as they like, just as other clubs are free to pay them, or notor maybe we should take up an invitation to play some ''lesser'' club in Europe at our own expense whilst they trouser the gate money

There is definitely a bit of an issue with friendlies this year - the Champs season starts as early as 3 August for some reason (play offs still at the end of May), but the PL season starts two weeks later - that means fewer friendlies against champs/lower league sides for us (could have had several away games) in that last couple of weeks, so it''ll have to be Europeans at home, again.

whats the cost of a flight and hotel for a team from spain to norwich?

certainly not 1m.

friendlies are meant to be equally beneficial for each team leading up to the season, and gate money split.

can''t see the point in paying a team for the ''privilege'' to pay them.

nobody said it was £1m but then nobody was forcing Leicester play (and pay) Real Madrid eithetif it was about being equally beneficial football wise then neither Real Madrid or Leicester could realistically claim that - however as it would have been clearly of financial benefit to both why not and the whinging on here?gate money is not necessarily splitwhere there is an imbalance there will be a guarantee against a gate split, as with entertainers ie Comic X plays the Theatre Royale the deal is say £50,000 against 70% of the net door take, whichever is the greaterthat is how it works, pretty much market forces, the same that determines the price of a season and casual tickets, drinks and food at the ground etcand pretty much how much you get paid ....

.......unless of course you do that for nothing bar your travel costs
