Bradley Johnson's Passing

Who should we all have a go at next? Fun, isn''t it? Uh, no actually. More like pathetic.
What about Jonny Howson? Sure it was a great goal on Sunday but the lads got a bit of a shit haircut.

I wasn''t having a go, it was an interesting statistic related to our football club, make of it what you will. Why assume that his low pass completion rate is a bad thing?

O.K. you have seen some "interesting" statistics. Could you please repeat them so that we can all see them?

Has football totally lost its identity that its all about percentages of passes completed now?

Do people realise that until right now, its been very rare indeed we can afford to buy the finished article in a player.

Oh and I have ten English pounds for anyone who will go and tell Bradley his passing is $hit, to his face.

morty: Oh and I have ten English pounds for anyone who will go and tell Bradley his passing is $hit, to his face.

----------------------------------------------------------------

What are you on about?

The simple statistic was that Bradley Johnson had the worst passing accuracy for a central midfielder who played more than 15 premiership games last season. And whether this is and area the side will need to improve upon.
He cropped up on my Facebook, on the whoscored.com site as having the worst pass completion ratio of any centre mid in the league! Now don''t get me wrong, I like him, and his passing has noticeably improved recently, but that''s a very poor stat to be associated with. Think of some of the shocking contenders!
I have looked at this website and you are most definitely factually incorrect with that statement.

In Webbo118''s world discussing the positive and negative abilities of our players is pathetic! What are you doing on a football message board! hahahha!

It''s not that BJ is a bad player it''s that when played alongside another DM we just have little or no connection with the forward line. We rely on Snoddy and Pilks to get the ball forward when we should at least have an option through the middle.

Geoff Cameron is a Left Back, Jobi McAnuff is a Left Midfielder and Jonathan Walters plays wide right and Mathew Taylor is a Left Winger.

I don''t think it is all to do with statistics at all. I think anyone can tell his passing is poor, that statistic just emphasises the point.

As mentioned, and conveniently ignored, above, how is it "having a go at" or "picking on" a player to make the observation that (using our eyes rather than stats) the team doesn''t keep the ball well, Johnson doesn''t pass well (backed up by the fact that statistically he is the worst passing central midfielder in the division) and that if we want to improve our squad those two things may lead to a certain conclusion?

In fairness it takes two to tango (and complete a pass). I do find it concerning at times the lack of passing options available across the park when Norwich have the ball. And I think we have one of the poorer pass completion ratios as a team. Probably need to improve overall movement and general desire for possession as a team.

Passing isn''t the only important attribute in football, but neither is tackling. I think the majority on this thread have simply said that we could probably do with a better all round midfielder than Johnson, or a better ball playing alternative next to him so he can lay the ball off to someone who can actually pass - as Tettey''s ball retention isn''t great either.

You have hit the nail on the head. Discussing the positive and negative is what it is all about. But with the majority on here, all they are interested in doing is slagging the players off. It is a question of balance. Do you even understand the meaning of the word positive? Hahahahahohohum!

Absolutely, and most posters clearly mention the excellent season BJ has had and his defensive capabilities. Even the initial poster says: "Now don''t get me wrong, I like him, and his passing has noticeably improved recently, but that''s a very poor stat to be associated with. "

It would seem you didn''t even notice all the positive comments from the majority of posters on this thread.

I think you should join Morty in the "discussing anything negative is an attack on me personally" corner...

It seems to me entirely reasonable to point out the bleeding obvious that BJ can''t pass the ball accurately and that for arguments sake Spurs let Parker go, given that he can tackle has enormous stamina and importantly in this context, can pass the ball, he would improve of team!

The point is, Mr Foghorn, is its the same people carping about negatives all the time, some of you miserable fuckers have nothing good to say about their football team, full stop.
