Now some meddling bureaucrat has decreed that this should no longer be allowed to happen, but why was such an excellent arrangement changed? Anyone know? I don''t see any justification for treating it in a special way.[/quote]Because for a lot of years the fixture lists were done so that on Bank Holidays (especially Boxing Day) clubs would play the teams closest to each other as travelling is more difficult, due to less trains etc. Last season we played Spurs on Boxing Day as they were the closest team to us.
