Injured Norwich fan

Recommended Posts

Hope the Norwich fan in the wheelchair is ok. Stewards took her out of the away end at the final whistle.

Not quite sure why there was such a bad atmosphere in the away end- amongst Norwich fans (how I saw it anyway!).

Not sure the ref/lino helped...

Is this the one that got hit by a bottle thrown by an Arsenal fan?(Just before anyone gets the idea it was our own fans)

Bless her. What happened?

p.s : I would change that signature if I were you... The truth isn''t very well accepted around here.

Thanks. What sad twat would throw a bottle at a disabled lady? Prick.
God knows mate although I had stuff shouted at me throughout the game by the Arsenal fans and when I responded with a "1-0" sign the steward gave ME a verbal warning!

I hope home stewards at FCR arent as obnoxious as some of the away stewards I''ve come across this year!

One of the worst moments I''ve ever had at FCR was being told to "sit down and shut up" by one of the stewards because I sang OTBC (slowly) after Wes scored in the Tottenham game. I was in the only one in the block singing ( River End block P).

After Bale scored a spurs fan a few rows ahead of me jumped and celebrated but was he was kindly escorted away by the stewards without so much as a peep (although some guy snatched his hat!)
I saw about it on twitter, my mate said she looked quite badly injured.
She was being taken down to the front at the final whistle with a big white pad on her forehead.Understandably she looked a bit groggy which was probably why she was in the wheelchair.

I though the stewards were pretty decent today tbf, had a laugh and a joke with a couple as we were right next to the home fans and about 10-15 rows in front of incident mentioned.  I thought the banter between the two sets of fans was pretty decent to be fair.  Hardly threatening like a Wolves or Birmingham.

Trouble what a lot of home fans fail to realise the stewards at FCR are doing their job. the Little Hitlers as you call them are trying to get people to sit down for safety reasons & also so that the capacity of FCR can remain as it is. Those kind fellows at away games who are quite happy to let you stand are actually having a jolly good laugh inside as they know if the away fans continue to stand the away allocation next season will be reduced & so it will for every ground than the away fans continue to stand. The clubs take video evidence to the FA & EPL that the Norwich fans(or any away fans) refused to sit down & the FA & EPL will then reduce the away allocation. This is happening at every Premier League & Championship ground around the country. This issue will not go away & you mark my words it will get a whole lot worse next season & every season after that until people compliy with the Ground Regulations...its not the clubs fault nor the stewards both are only following regualtions set down by the powers that be.

What I am or who I know is irrelevant Crabby. I''m sick of people constantly Steward bashing or condeming the club for trying to put things in order & save the club a) having to pay fines to the FA for failing to control crowd(by not getting them to sit down) or b) by having the capacity of Carrow Road reduced & the away allocation reduced. I''m actually a ST holder in the N&P & travel to most away games too if thats any help!

Hi

I am the said injured Norwich fan, thanks for your concerns and well wished.

I was seated with my young son and partner next to the Arsenal fans, we were not asked to sit and the stewards were almost nonchalant. We were verbally abused the moment we took our seats, though most was the normal banter a few took things a bit too far , which the stewards ignored. When the penalty was awarded and scored the Arsenal fans became very voiciferous, and words were exchanged between both sets of fans, however I became the receiving end of a 2p coin , cutting my head and knocking me out! I remember no more until being put into a wheelchair. My son was looked after by a fellow city lad ( who I would love to thank) the stewards ignored my partners request to go after the idiot who threw coin and was making a hasty retreat! He also had to scream for medical assistance!!

I have been a season ticket for several years and a regular away supporter, and have never been subjected to such treatment ( even at our good old local Derbys) .

I am pleased to say that David McNally has been in touch and I hope this idiot is banned at the very least .

Thanks again

Great to hear that you''re recovered Anita and hope it doesn''t put you off supporting City in the future.

I really hope Arsenal catch the cowardly moron who did this to you and take the appropriate action.

The stewards were absolutely woeful on saturday.

As mentioned I got a verbal warning because I made the "1-0" sign towards some Arsenal fans who had been winding me up all game!It wasnt swearing or anything btw! The jobsworth steward came straight over and gave me a "verbal warning"...

Thanks to everyone for there support on this, I am Anita''s partner. I have been a season ticket holder for over 20 years and in all my trips around the country to watch my beloved team I have never come across such stupid behavoir towards a set of fans for just banter (apart from the team down the A140) Norwich fans giving back what they got and some thug taking it to far and dont have the brain sells to banter back so he choises to resort to coin chucking! I''m not nieve and know this things and worse goes on, but the fact that this thug had to push past children to do this and to chuck a coin at Norwich fans where children where is stupidity.

Arsenal stewards didn''t nothing when I was pointing out the thug, police come and was more interested in keeping me back from pointing out the Arsenal thug, no medical assistance after I was screaming for them. The police lady who took a statement from me after everything had been sorted was very helpful indeed I have to state.

Hope this thug is found and banned from football for a long time!

Hi Anita

Good to hear you are feeling better, it must have been a terrifying experience for you all. I was stood in the row in front and the police only seemed interested in the Norwich supporters who began to surge forward after the incident. Given that the police advised us that the Arsenal supporters nearby were all season ticket holders, you would have expected them to make some effort to find the culprit. It makes you wonder what would have happened had this been a local derby or Millwall supporters in the away section. Hopefully David McNally will pursue the matter with the appropriate Arsenal authorites and the individual will be caught on CCTV.

As you say the banter between the two sets of fans was generally good natured and the atmosphere created by the Norwich supporters was first class. I hope the incident doesn''t put you and your family off continuing to follow Norwich at away games in the future.

Thanks Clappy Chappy

I really hope they find this worthless person, it''s been a bad weekend for football and its reputation.

There has apparently been some vulgar tweets about the incident by Gooners. Really shameful. But also shows how united we are as NCFC fans as I have had some great support also from people I don''t know.

Thanks agsin

I hope you are feeling better and your son is ok about his mum getting injured.

Good to hear that the club have been in touch and lets hope Arsenal and the police  find who was responsible for this incident.

Following on from Anita''s and everyone else''s comments, I was also on the wrong end of the stewards.

I was on the row behind when the incident happened. I wanted and tried to help, only to be grabbed round the neck by a steward who threatned to "floor me". This was unprovoked and to me, uncalled for.

Following this, I asked to make a formal complaint to one of the head stewards, but I was told to leave the ground. This carried on for some time, until 1 steward actually took notice and was helpful until the Met Police got involved. They made me look like the guilty party, telling me I was on CCTV and it was best for me to leave.

I was asked to fill out an "incident" card. When I wrote down the coat number of the steward in question, the head guy told me I was an idiot, that was his job and I was not listening.

This kind of behaviour is sickening considering I was trying to help. I am very glad to say that Mr McNally is also investigating this

If the away allocation is reduced at grounds then the home club will be losing money don''t think stewards are deliberately letting fans stand mate.

But those extra tickets could be sold to home fans....less hassle for said stewards.

I must say I didnt have any problem with the Stewards on Saturday but sounds like these people should be named & shamed. Sounds to me like they are the kind of stewards looking for trouble!!!

Maybe by NCFC making complaints etc they can be held accountable & the thug that threw the coin should be banned for life.
