The Ghost of Percy Varco

Bayern Munich

Recommended Posts

3 - 0  One offside goal, one blatent foul, right in front of the "extra official" on the goalline. What do those blokes do?

And how does the stadium announcer get away with his spiel after a goal has been scored, building up the crowd while (presumably) giving the goal-scorer''s name, while play is going on?

For the offside goal whoever that bloke is behind the goal with the magic wand looked straight at the linsman, even in slow motion it looked like he''d have whiplash in the morning the speed he turned his head!

He knew he was offside but did nothing!

4-0! Game over Bayern in the final

It is interesting to think how close Arsenal came to beating Bayern, I''m sure they wouldn''t have fared anywhere near this well against Barca.

Meanwhile, thoseextra ''refs'' really are the biggest waste of space in any sport - as a ref you''d almost be embarrassed to take the role on.

The offside I wouldn''t expect him to be able to make a call on; he will have been watching the ball/line to see if the ball crossed it. He will have seen Gomez in an offside position when the ball was kicked, but how would he know whether Gomez was offside when the ball was headed back across? He would have to have been looking the other way from the goalline/Mueller heading it back over.

However, the block on Alba should have been clear to both the goalline ref and the actual ref, and the Pique handball looked in pretty good view for both of them as well, especially as he stuck his arm out from his body quite a distance.

I did see one of the goalline refs point for a goalkick when the ref''s view was slightly obscured, but I get the impression that most of them will avoid making any controversial decision unless it''s a ball across the line shout. Don''t raise your head above the parapet and all that.

It''s impossible to know what the extra officials did and didn''t signal for - they aren''t suppose/allowed to raise their wand thing and wave it around as this would be considered distracting for the players. They push a button which sends a signal to the ref''s watch when they consider an offence has been made and let the ref make the final decision.

But as Aggy wrote there is no way one could have made a call on the offside decision as they would be too close to make a call and not be able to see the whole pitch from their position.

Bayern v Dortmund final. The Prem has had its day?

The Bundesliga - less mercenary players, cheaper for the fans, not ruined by money. Two teams in the Champions league final

The Bundesliga - less mercenary players, cheaper for the fans, not ruined by money. Two teams in the Champions league final[/quote]Saw this on the BBC site. I think a lot of people are just lining their pockets in the Prem.

Who is Robert Lewandowski?

  • Born:

    21 Aug 1988 Warsaw, Poland

  • Position:

    Striker

  • Previous Clubs:

Lech Poznan, Znicz Pruszkow, Legia Warsaw

  • Joined Dortmund for around £4m in June 2010

  • 35 goals this season with 14 in his last 12 Bundesliga games

  • Bundesliga Player of the Season: 2011-12

  • Poland:

    16 goals in 53 appearances

How much would a 35 goal/season player fetch in the Prem £50m+

Bloody joke. The bubble needs to burst.

Less than 10 Euros to stand at Dortmund league games. Same for most of the teams. No wonder why football is doing well its fucking accessible, how did it go so wrong here. For the price of 4 tickets vs the big 4 at pretty much an English ground you could get a season ticket for most German clubs. But you do have to remember Germany has just had a world cup providing clubs with lots of investment without having to dip into their own pockets.

Interestingly if tickets were £10 here how many do you think we could pull, must be 40k.

A little stat I read on twitter last night, Dortmund spent less on Piszczek, Gotze, Gundogan, Bender, Lewandowski, Subotic and Kuba than English teams have spent on Charlie Adam!

Unfortunately, I think the Dortmund team may well split up; Gotze gone already to Bayern, who are also interested in Lewandowski (as are the likes of Man Utd). Whilst normally you''d ask why players would leave a champions league (semi)finalist, if one or two of the star players go, the others may well think it''s time to go too.

But there was also a stat showing Dortmund''s most expensive season ticket to only be a few quid more expensive than Arsenal''s most expensive single casual game ticket.
