Norwich Vs. Aston Villa Official Match Thread

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, another three points today would pretty much see us safe, and we could then finally move on from the worries of what is below us.

Norwich: Bunn, Martin, Bassong, Ryan Bennett, Garrido, Snodgrass, Johnson, Howson, Pilkington, Hoolahan, Holt. Subs Camp, Whittaker, Jackson, Kamara, Elliott Bennett, Barnett, Tettey.

Bennett starts with Turner injured, Howson retains his place in midfield ahead of Tettey, and pilks is back as Norwich revert to the 4-5-1 that brought success earlier int he campaign. Kamara drops to the bench, no sign of Ruddy.

Aston Villa: Guzan, Lowton, Vlaar, Baker, Bennett, Westwood, Delph, Sylla, Agbonlahor, Benteke, Weimann. Subs: Given, Bent, N''Zogbia, Holman, Bowery, Bannan, Lichaj.

Elsewhere we have the championship crazy final day going down, Vaughan might just have saved Palace, whilst Peterborough might stay up on goal difference. Exciting finish to the league this year!

As I posted that, Peterborough have conceded, they might go down. But Vaughan''s goal looks to have kept Huddersfield safe.

Hull are the second automatic team, and Leicester have sneaked into the play-offs with an injury time goal

Bemused as to why Ruddy isn''t even on the bench. And also someone should probably find out where Charlie Wyatt gets his info from, as its pretty much all right.

Said Bassong would be playing, all those people panicking he would be out. But Villa''s front three is very scary, Seb''s going to have to make sure Bennett is spot on today. Think we are going to have to be strong in midfield to take advantage as looks like we should have the stronger midfield.

Great to see Pilks back in, he was raring to go weeks ago (said on Twitter he hoped to have a go at Swansea...) hopefully he has a good day.

They are now, Leeds just taken the lead.

Dramaaaaa

Hull players waiting in the tunnel for the Watford game to finish, and then Leeds score and they go beserk!

Reminds me of our promotion out of the league, and the dramatic injury time winner against Derby that virtually gave us the chance to go up. Mental stuff, the championship.

Weirdly Snoddy is playing down the left, Pilks down the right

Think the two will swap regularly AJ, with Hoolahan as well. Very fluid attacking trio will be hard to defend against.

Decent start, Villa will clearly be dangerous on the break though. But couple of corners already, and Pilks and Snod in behind the Villa defence out wide.

Turns out they''re just switching wings

Bennett looking a bit suspect at the back so far, not as solid as Turner

Really AJ?

He''s only done one thing that i''ve noticed, and it was a perfectly timed tackle on Agbonlahor.

Pressing well so far, but Villa coming into the game a bit too much for my liking

And yes, the second time Agbonlahor ran at him he didn''t have a clue what to do

Blatant handball in the box, no penalty. A lot more blatant than Bassong vs Sunderland

Most defenders don''t...

I don''t get that kind of attitude. When we had Hucks, whenever he skinned a player its because he was brilliant. But if a similar style player skins one of our defenders, its because our defender isn''t up to the job?

We all do it, but sometimes we just seem to forget the other team do deserve credit/blame as well.

''Blatant handball in the box, no penalty. A lot more blatant than Bassong vs Sunderland''

Hmm.

Not sure.

Replay I just saw it hardly even connected with arm, more back. And definitely wasn''t intentional, arm was in front of face and he was turning his back to the ball. Could have been given, would have been very harsh on Villa. But then we''ve had some even harsher calls against us, when does the infamous ''evening up'' of decisions occur?

His arms were up in the air?! How can it not be intentional if you arms are above your heard?! He blocked the cross with his arm, that''s a foul

Joe Bennett will be lucky to play the whole match if he carries on like that.

That was a great rugby tackle, unfortunately for him, he''s playing football. Stupid booking. And after getting sent off against us at Villa Park, wouldn''t be shocked to see him off again, either another yellow or Lambert taking him off at HT.

Well, you don''t jump with hands down by your sides. He was turning his back to the ball, and arms were in front of his face. And the only replay I saw of it, couldn''t even really tell if it hit his arm or back.

Howson, Hoolahan, Pilks and Snod doing well. Some nice passing movements in the middle. We actually look good doing that. Why has it taken so long to get Howson into his natural game for Hughton? Works brilliantly with Hoolahan.

wes dominating play - shows why having him not playing recently was poor. just makes us tick as an attacking force.

Decent FK from Snod there. Ok header from Bennett, Guzan positioned well to prevent any danger. But its a shot on target!

Well, it''s a sub used up and an enforced change against one of their better performers of late. Not sure it''ll make that much difference though

Linesman just given offside against Snod when he was clearly well onside. His cross wasn''t accurate though.

Holt has done OKay so far, not had much service but almost in a few times.

Another poor linesman decision say the commentators, hmms
