ICF Sunderland match report

Recommended Posts

Our team Bunn in goal, back 4 Martin Bassong turner Garrido

Snoddy & E Bennet on the flanks with Bennett on the right with BJand Howson centre midfield and Kei up front with Holt being dropped.

Sunderland started brightly winning a couple of corners but City gradually came into the game with both flanks working well. EB back to his best and Snoddy also producing. We were winning quite a few corners and suddenly were looking on top. Finally Kei escaped the marking at a corner and his header was goal-bound when Wes diverted it in on the goal lone.

Sunderland came back without creating any real chances. Of course it''s never easy with city and when turner tried to head a ball on to Bunn in the centre it was much too high and Bunn was well out of his area and seemed to handle it and was red carded.

A few minutes later Bassong was under no pressure when he seemed to control the ball with his shoulder but the Lino was adamant and a penalty was given which left Camp no chance - 1-1.

We were now under more pressure and Sunderland crated on good chance whenCamp saved a hard shot and the rebound was put wide with goal gaping. We did well to hold out to half time although we did create a couple of openings on the break.

Second half and happily Sunderland struggled to dominate while we were still threatening on the break. After 60 mins Holt came on for Kei who''d done a good job with some excellent touches and you began to believe we could get something as he began to out muscle the defenders. The best chance of the half felt to him when he wrestled pass the defender to a through ball and was through on the keeper but couldn''t control.

At the other end Camp made a couple of saves from distance but that was all. As a sunderkand fan said to me after the game, they had little to offer going forward and overall the half was even despite their man advantage.

At the death they put in a good cross ball low but the attacker miscues and it was well wide.

So a well deserved draw that feels like a win and p probably would''ve been at 11 v 11 (tempted to say rather than 10 v 12)

Plenty of good performances but I''d like to highlight Howson who did well in defence and some good stuff going forward, Kei did the lone role very well and EB was excellent both attacking and defending. Credit to all the back four but turner especially was good except for the back header

Good report but it was more like a 13v10. The linesman didnt shower himself in glory with his decisions.

Ps forgot to mention our penalty I the second half that wasn''t given - from my angle it was clearly inside the box and just a case if whether it was handball so as he gave the foul it had to be a pen IMO
