This one is based around a couple of old programmes (and the players listed as playing in those games)

S''oton v City 1983

1. Can you name two future City managers playing for City ?

2. The two England keepers playing for each side ?

3. The ex Saints player playing for City ?

4.  Two ex binners playing (one each side) ?

5. Which City player was on loan to the Saints when they met at Carrow Road earlier in that season ?

6. Future City manager who played for QPR reserves against Saints reserves the week before ?

Swindon v City 1988

1. Three future City managers/coaches playing for City ?

2.  One (now) TV pundit playing for Swindon ?

3. Two future PL coaches (not the three above) playing for City ?

4. Two future City coaches playing for Swindon ?

5. Former City keeper (post 2007) just signed on loan for Swindon the week before this game ?

6. Two future local football coaches playing for City ?

Could I suggest that you hold fire until midnight before posting up answers so as to give others a chance to have a go (it''s aimed at testing you knowledge not how quick you can look/post up stuff)

by all means post up if you have got the answers, but as

Swindon v City 1988

1. yes

2. yes

3. no

..........etc

 "basque in the glory"

basque ?

freudian slip there, methinks

 "confused by the post 2007"

I added the date as the clue was pretty obscure and we have had a fair number of keepers since 1988, so that narrowed the dates down

I''ll leave it until later this evening before putting up the answers, allow some of the ''seniors'' to have a go - many who, at the moment, will be waiting for Countdown or are still stuggling home from the Day Centre

so please hold fire for a few more hours, ta

ps while you are waiting you might like to work out who was the Swindon manager at that game and how is he linked to our current manager

[/quote]Are you arguing a grammatical fact?  If you are talking about something that happened during the decade it is then 1980s, there is no need for an apostrophe.  It doesn''t belong to anyone or itself, unless you are talking about the year 1980 alone.

The Swindon manager would have been Lou Macari, with John Trollope as his assistant.

I think City 1st was trying to appear a youngster, in that all plural''s (sic) now should of (sic) been written definately (sic) with apostrophe''s (sic) !

4. Two ex binners playing (one each side) ? Bertschin, Mills

5. Which City player was on loan to the Saints when they met at Carrow Road earlier in that season ? Fashanu

Swindon v City 1988

1. Three future City managers/coaches playing for City ? Gunn, Culverhouse, Butterworth

2. One (now) TV pundit playing for Swindon ? Kamara

3. Two future PL coaches (not the three above) playing for City ? Bowen, Phelan

and yes, it was Brum that Macari and Hughton managed so spot on Mr John (presuming you didn''t have a peep at any City books) - good link about the Trollopes, though there are enough of them around parts of the City without any more needed.

You can always use it on one of your quiz nights, presuming your ''punters'' have the good sense to stay away from such madhouses as this and so haven''t read it.

Meanwhile maybe you could tell us what linked us and S''oton in 73/74 and 04/05, and what was noticable from 73/74 ?

Ha! That''s an easy one for us oldtimers. The link was relegation and was it the team that was relegated with us and Saints in 74/75 that was noticeable?

If you tell the young people of today that team was relegated they won''t believe you.... they won''t[;)]

It was, as our Top of the Form regular young master nutty has it, the first season that three clubs were relegated

though that mattered little to us as we were bottom anyway

we also had our own three day week - we didn''t turn up on a saturday
