The current caller on canary call mentioned the stats don''t lie......managers have lost their jobs for far less.....

To be honest. Hughton should be counting his lucky stars he is still in a job. Very few boards would have stuck with him through this season.

And what has changed in those 15 games - nothingNo real intent to go out & win games even against poor opposition, poor crossing week after week, failure to take the few chances that do come our way, looking less likely to score every week, poor use & timing of substitutions & never being able to capitalize on the situation when we do have a good spell in games.I cannot understand why we still go out with the same mentality week after week when it''s obvious that it isn''t working.

In their heart of hearts I don''t believe our players have really bought into Chris Hughton.

1 in 15 and now we need 2 in 7. Something has to fundamentally change.

What on earth has changed since our 10 game run earlier in the season? Could Ruddy being injured really make that much difference?

God knows what is going on, but it''s no where near good enough

Just 1 more win will do, ffs can''t we just get over the line and forget about this season, start again with RVW and co brought in!

Week by week the memories of our 95 horror show become clearer and clearer. We''re sleep-walking back into the Championship again - such a pity. The failures of the January transfer window and our ''let''s try not to lose'' tactics must now be clear for all to see.

Have to totally agree with that notion, how some players have just under performed from last season points to one denominator....Hughton.

if you had to handpick the opposition for our next 2 home games you wouldnt look too far beyond Swansea ,who are on the beach and who we have a good record against......and Reading who will be as good as down by then. If we dont get the points we need in these 2 games, we''re running out of games that we can?

Villa will be far too tense , leaving just the WBA game.

that Holt penalty miss vs Southampton is looking more costly by the week.

I think Swansea will be out for revenge, playing with freedom brought on by safety, a Cup victory and European football to look forward to. We underestimate the Swans at our peril. Lose that one and only victory against Reading will keep us up.

Balderdash!

The underperformance is due to:

some of the players are not able or capable

some of the players are not up for it

some of the players are know they are not in future plans and so don''t turn up for it

It''s the players on the field of play who have to take the responsibility - and they need to have the intestinal fortitude to own up to their shortfalls!

Many of these players were capable last season.  For example Marc Tierney who has played once this season, Garrido undroppable, even during his poor run of form around Christmas. The First XI know they will be picked no matter how poor they are playing.

Tierney --  Garrido

Games 17 -- 29

Goals 0 -- 0

Assists 1 -- 2

Passing 72.5% -- 75.8%

Per game ---->

Tackles 3.2 -- 1.3

Interceptions 1.6 -- 1.0

Fouls 1.0 -- 0.7

Clearances 5 -- 3

Dribbled passed 0.7 -- 0.7

Blocked Shots 0.6 -- 0.3

Accurate Crosses 0.9 -- 0.7

Accurate Long Balls 2.1 -- 2.1

Key Passes 0.5 -- 0.6

The backup players certainly look rusty, out of form, and unmotivated this season in the few games they have played.  Last season the whole squad looked up for every game.  Whenever backup players were called upon they did a good job.

The manager is responsible for results.  It is his job to pick the team, buy the players, decide the tactics, and motivate them.

CJF - you are correct in that the manager is responsible for results, it is his job to pick the team, buy the players, decide the tactics, and motivate them.

But, it''s like saying to your teenage kids - don''t drink, don''t do drugs etc - you''re still responsible for them, but your teenage kids also have to take some responsibility for their non compliance! Then on top of that, you have the tricky job of trying to get them to behave when the grandparents turn up for the weekend!

CH still has the task of getting, what appears to be reluctant players, to play the to the team CH drum beat. Unfortunately, it appears that some players still want to play to another drumbeat!

As for the capability of last season''s players vs this seasons - may I refer the honourable gentleman to to just one of many examples - the behaviour and efforts of our captain last season to this........

Ultimately it is the manager who is responsible. However, the players on the field of play also have to take responsibility for their actions - and they DO need to man up to their shortfalls!

[/quote]Interestingly, 10 minutes of the most un-Hughton football against Everton could be what saves us from relegation this season.

even in this, which was our only win in the last 14, appeared to be players taking it upon themselves to win it in injury time when they smelt blood ,when Hughton after the game admitted he''d have been happy with the draw.

Hughton is beginning to make Worthington seem advnterous away from home.

1 goal in away games at Reading,Southampton,QPR and Wigan

Hang on chaps, just read what you said there - Hughton said he would be happy with the draw in injury time, after having spent most of the game behind. Why didn''t the team perform like that earlier in the game - and not leave their "performances" to injury time? (Unless the turn around could have been influenced by a Hughton loan signing?)

We showed more urgency in that 2 mins of injury time vs Everton than we did in three games worth in the Newcastle,Fulham and Southmpton home games where the players took it upon temselves to throw men forward and seize the 3 points........which is the ''real'' Norwich?....do we really believe they enjoy being shackled in the restrictive style theyre being forced to play in?

OK - So you are saying that it is all Hughton''s fault - nothing to do with the players whatsoever?

Does that mean that the wins against Arsenal, Man Utd etc etc were down to Hughton being negative? Or do you want to claim that as being down to the players ignoring the shackles Hughton placed on them?

The "anti Hughton" brigade can''t just have a "heads I win, tails you lose" type of approach

its horses for courses , vs Man United and Arsenal this containing, nullifying tactic is obviously required against better players...it helps too, to take the lead to have something to defend.

Employ the same tactics against sides like Fulham and Newcastle and to an extent Southampton ,who will all be more than happy to play along with it and share the points, and a draw is inevitably what you''ll get.

This running theme of "making sure you don''t lose to those around you" is all well and good................until those beneath you start winning their matches ,where we''re only drawing or losing.

Tortoise and Hare.
