Gamera 0 Posted April 8, 2013 Whilst I understand everyone getting concerned over relegation, those calling for Hughton''s head should look at the bigger picture. His target was keeping us up. Which we are in a great position to do. It just seems bizarre that a few months back people on here were laughing at lambert who has now dragged villa out of the drop zone. Whilst had we had our results of late earlier and be on a 11 game streak now everyone would be singing Hughton''s name to the rafters as to how he had pulled us out of the mire. Over the season he looks to have done enough. Don''t judge him on the latest results but on the season as a whole. We will probably be safe, with money to spend and our record signing on his way. If he doesn''t get the small amount of points to get safety then fine, lay into him. But the majority of us would have taken this position at the start of the season, so a little bit of a dose of reality wouldn''t go a long way.
Hannibal II 0 Posted April 8, 2013 Most fans say its a results business but a lot of the time if you see your side lose but they play well most people will stick their hands up and say we gave it a good go. The trouble with us at the moment is i can''t remember a full 90 mins this season where i thought we played well. I can see you will shout Arsenal or Man Utd at me but if you look back both were well below par and if you watch them again they really should of beat us but for poor finishing. All of the games we have won this season have been by a single goal and we are the first team in PL history to have two games in a season without having a single shot on target. We are the only side to travel to Wigan and not score and in all likelihood finish the season with a club record low for goals scored. If you judge Hughton on the performance of the team they have not been good enough all season.
Redders Right Foot 22 Posted April 8, 2013 I will Judge hughton on the task given to him by the board at the beginning of the season.that was to stay upI firmly believe that will happen.now I await to see his transformation of our team for next season, and I believe it will be wonderful. ROBFLECK 134 Posted April 8, 2013 I can follow the OP in what he says, but I am disgruntled at the way we play. I know there is only one goal and if he achieves it, I will be very, very happy. The run of 11 games, was great...and Ihaven''t forgotten it. But watching City atm is not a treat. The Wigan game was simply awful and so was the So''ton game. You just can''t deny it. I''ve never been one who called for Hughton''s head, that would just make it worse! I want him to do well, but it''s not happening now is it?
Alfie54 83 Posted April 8, 2013 I don''t think that I''ve seen as many misplaced passes at this level than I did from Howson in the first half, it took until the 80th minute for Hughton to take him and an ineffective Wes off, surely this should have happened around 60 min, hardly gung-ho, hardly a huge risk, just pro-active and positive. He continues to dither and that might just prove very costly at the end of the season!
