SwindonCanary 457 Posted March 26, 2013 Howard Webb is the ref on Saturday v Wigan, my first thought was the penalty he didn''t give us last game he was our ref. But this is interesting --- http://blog.emiratesstadium.info/archives/27812
star_manic 0 Posted March 26, 2013 very interesting stats. keep Halsey away from our games is the obvious conclusion.
Redders Right Foot 22 Posted March 26, 2013 to be fair to him, I am more than happy to have Webb as our ref most games. has always seemed to be one of the more fair refs (when united aren''t involved ;) )
Zak Van Burger 0 Posted March 26, 2013 Interesting analysis thanks for posting.Mike Jones seems to treat the smaller clubs all roughly the same with a 10% win ratio strangely the Man Citys and Chelseas get a 90% win ratio with the same ref.

It's Character Forming 1,204 Posted March 26, 2013 I think Howard Webb is one of the better refs. Last time we had him was for Fulham I think, and I don''t remember any big decisions going against us, although I wasn''t there. The article on the link is interesting but more relevant to the question of whether any of the refs are biased for/against any of the big teams.

When their average final points tally is considerably less than 103 points you have to accept that they win an above (their own seasonal) average percentage of games when Jones is in charge. Asdfghjkl;# 0 Posted March 26, 2013 That''s a very crude way of analyzing ref''s performances for certain teams. As someone who watches a lot of premiership football whenever I can I can assure you we are usually treated pretty poorly by referees overall compared to other clubs in this league. Stoke and Wigan (last week aside) also seem to get screwed over a lot! Another thing I''ve noticed is it''s not generally the smaller clubs that get treated the most unfairly by ref''s but more the most unfashionable clubs like us and the others mentioned. The teams that tend to get the fairer treatment are the ones with the bigger name players/spend the most in windows/get the most media attention/have higher profile managers or outspoken or bonkers owners (fashionable clubs basically) This leaves me slightly paranoid that there''s some kind of conspiracy from the FA or Sky or whoever to make it as tough as possible for the less interesting or less media friendly teams (Teams who make everyone the least money) to survive. I mean after all they''ve made it practically illegal to call a referees decision into question, giving them complete protection free from any criticisms whatsoever. I''m kinda joking really, I don;t really believe that but it wouldn''t surprise me if it was true, even more so after last Sunday.
Branston Pickle 4,150 Posted March 26, 2013 It does indeed seem to be an extremely crude way of measuring anything - unless i have missed something, no consideration is made of the relative merits of who is playing who, or which side is at home: this analysis suggests the result is dependent on the ref rather than these other, surely far more relevant, factors. Highland Canary 78 Posted March 27, 2013 Decent referee.
clarkey1972 0 Posted March 27, 2013 Good ref.Lives near me and I see him out jogging sometimes, he always has Man U gear on!I could give him a lift saturday, and threaten not to bring him back if he stitches us up.
ca 1 Posted March 27, 2013 Howard Webb, one of the best refs around plus Sian Massey as the lino so I''m confident that those two at least won''t get any key decisions wrong.
