Anybody else pleased that Spurs are doing well (so far)?

Recommended Posts

I am because they''re looking like they can break that ''glasss ceiling'' and make the top 4 into a 5. And that can only be better for the rest of us.

Now before somebody complains that this thread is not about Norwich City, it has eerything to do with our future. Who knows what the landscape will be like in 5, 10, 15 years time.............

Breaking up of the top 4 domination of recent years has everything to do with the future of Norwich City Football Club and our  fellow travellers such as Swansea City. That''s why I wouldn''t mind if Everton went on a run and finished up in the mix at season''s end. And Abramovich left Chelsea in the lurch by turning his attention to some German, or other, club!

Can''t say the ever enter my thoughts in any meaningful way Bly.If they are on TV playing somebody close to us in the table I will root for them but other than that I couldn''t care less if they break into the top four or not.Ricardo don''t do "Second Clubs"[;)]

Spurs have probably spent more money than Arsenal in recent years... Although maybe not.

And the ''top four'' died when Liverpool started to drift, it became a top 3 then Man.C bought a place.

Everton breaking into the top four would be meaningful, Spurs not so much.

if youre suggesting that by Spurs breaking into the top 4 means that we can aswell, youre wide of the mark.

In terms of money spent they are 4th behind Man City,Chelsea and Man United, so 4th is where they should be?

All this Man City bought a place is rubbish, Manure and Liverpool were doing it for years, Yes Utd had/have a good youth team coming through, but lets not forget the millions they spent!! When fergie took over he went on a spending spree, likes of Wallace, Phelan, Webb, Pallister, Bruce, Leighton, Hughes the list goes on!!

I''m delighted for them. I''ve always had a soft spot for them since they became the first side in the modern era to win the double. And of course they added to that great side by signing Jimmy Greaves.

I have to say though, aren''t Queen of the South doing remarkably well in the Scottish Second Division? I''ve followed them from afar ever since they suffered their record defeat at the hands of Dundee just after Greavsie had helped Spurs retain the FA cup.

I echo these sentiments. Spurs breaking into the top four would just further clarify that money "can" get you what you want in football. It has always been this way to some extent but at times, clubs upset the applecart and pull something brilliant out of the bag. Everton breaking into the top four would be on a par with Fulham and Middlesborough reaching the UEFA Cup finals, or Bradford making it to the League Cup final.

I''ve always liked Spurs. It''s because during the ''80s, when i first started following football & Norwich the Norwich Vs Spurs fixture was always an exciting game with lots of good football to watch. The score would always seem to be 2-1 to one of the sides. At the same time, Arsenal were as dull as dishwater to watch hence me not having such a liking for them.I''d love to see Spurs get 2nd spot. I may be wrong but they seem quite a friendly club and don''t seem to have many people who support them just because they won stuff.

I do take a passing interest as my younger brother is a Spurs fan. He used to be a Norwich fan when he was younger, lost a bit of interest in football and then married into a Spurs supporting family and converted. I’ve not let him forget this. Ever.

No one has ever said Man.U and Liverpool haven''t spent loads of money. Thats how you get a place in the top four. Man.C did buy a place in the top four. So did all the others, Man.C just did more recently.

I just like the top end of the league to be interesting so I''d rather Man U don''t win it every season.  I also prefer it to be less dictated by money so I''m glad ManC haven''t done so well this year, even though this has given ManU a clear run - ideally I''d like ManU to struggle a bit too.

Going forward I hope that when Sir A leaves them, Man U go through a long term drop like Liverpool or worse, which would open things up at the top.  If Abramovich gets tired of all the flack at Chelsea and Man C continue to find ways to waste a lot of the money they spend, that could really open up the top end.

Realistically though, there is a limit to how well City can do.

I personaly hope Everton and Arsenal could climb over Tottenham and Chelsea, because then spending wise policy would win at least in some way ^^

No, not in the slightest. Would rather see them sitting in 20th.

Take Bale out the Spurs team and I don''t think they''d be any higher than 7-8th anyway. They are basically a top half team with 1 of the best players in the world picking up the rest. Put Bale in a yellow and green jersey with the rest of the squad we have, think we''d be at least 6th by now, maybe higher.

Well, I reckon that''s a bit like insisting that if Argentina didn''t have Maradona in 1986 England would have won the World Cup that year.

Although if Bobby Robson had brought on John Barnes 15 minutes earlier who knows................

If you really want to see the difference then list the clubs who finished in the top four each season. That''s a real eyeopener[8-|]

You mustn''t think you failed me just because there''s someone else
You were the first real love I ever had,
And all the things I ever said
I swear they still are true
For no one else can have the part of me I gave to you

Torn between two lovers, feeling like a fool
Loving both of you is breaking all the rules
Torn between two lovers, feeling like a fool
Loving you both is breaking all the rules

I think you might well see Arsenal make the top 4 this season but Everton aren''t going to do it, getting beat at Carrow Road is going to be very costly for them.
