Why is Hucks up front?

Recommended Posts

Huckerby on the left wing:

Pros

 • More chances to cross
 • Collects the ball deeper, more space to run
 • Enables an out-and-out striker to play alongside Ashton

Cons

 • Huckerby has to lose the right winger as well as the right back, not easy in the Premiership
 • Leaves our left back very exposed
 • Can get marked out of the game, becoming ineffectual

Huckerby upfront:

Pros

 • Drags defenders into positions they don''t want to be, creating space for others
 • Great pace in behind
 • Gives a better, more solid balance to the team with a true left winger in place

Cons

 • Can leave our other striker isolated
 • Finishing is not Huckerby''s forte
 • Possible lack of creativity from midfield

You can have a million and one pros about him playing up front, but none of them are worth anything if he can''t put the ball in the net.

Stick Hucks back on the left where he does what he does best; create every single Norwich goal, ever

Yes , stick him back on the left  ....... where he`s been most of the season until recently !!    well  it didn`t do us much good  did it ?   our other strikers have been wasting his crosses   on a regular basis , and , apart from a crap defence ,are the main  reason for our position at the moment !!    ..........  if any player s should be blamed for missing chances  it`s  our , so called , strkers ! ................  Hucks has only been playing  as centre forward in the last two games   .... and all of a sudden he`s to blame for missing chances ......  yesterday he only really had  the one opportunity , and that was the high ball that  bobbled  and swung in high wind  ,    stick him back on the left .... and kiss off any hope we have of staying up .........
Why he is put up front when he is not a centre forward? His best position is supporting the front two out on the left.
I don''t think things will start to look okay, until Svensson returns, Canary Chick.

Worthy has always wanted, IMO, to play him up front with Ashton, the only problem with that though, is will he return in time?.

Heck .... you just gotta  laugh  ....     ....  more style than substance  ?  .....  poor old Hucks eh ? .....can`t do a thing right these days   .....  carried us into the premiership  .... is STILL the best player we`ve got  .... and he gets stick because  he can`t do it all on his own !!  ...  misses a goal opportunity and the  " pundits " rake him over the coals  ....   Francis and McKenzie  , et al , miss dozens  of " sitters "  ..and its  , " Oh  ,they`re going to come good ... only a matter of time " ...etc etc ....yeah

Hucks is awesome in the 1st div. Sadly at this level he''s just an ok player with pace. I''m not knocking what he''s done for the club but some people treat him as the messiah. If you counted all the glorius chances he''s had this season and not put away then we''d be sitting quite comfortably in the table.

ncfc prem ,    couldn`t you level the same accusation at all our other strikers ?  who , I might add ,  have NOT been stuck out left  for most of the season , they`ve been on the receiving end of innumerable crosses from him  ....... and nine times out of ten they`ve  lost the plot in front of  an open goal !  no point in counting the mishaps of one player  to the exclusion   of THEM eh ?
Sheded, I am not having a go at Hucks, just questioned why he has been playing out of position.
Canary Chick  ,   no problem , it just seems that some posters   have forgotten that Hucks  is the main reason we are in the prem  ..........    as for being out of position , thats argueable !   if our strikers had  converted  more of the his crosses  then the left wing  is  where he should be !  ........ but   , half the season gone .......  and STILL  the strikers  keep wasting  Hucks crosses ...........  you can`t blame Worthy  if he thinks " route one "  is the way to go at this point ? ... and plays Hucks in a more central role ......  I happen to think that  he`s right  !!!

As far as citys results are concerned does it really matter where he plays?

With him on the left city created, and scored, nothing as he sits too deep to really hurt the opposition (where were the shed loads of chances missed by Leon etc etc  they all happened when Hux was up front)), while conceeding shed loads as the left back gets fros- bite due to over exposure;

With him up front we create more, but Hux misses them as his strength is his pace movement and creativity rather than his finishing (if he could finish he would be worth £20m+ and playingin the champs league and not at FCR)

Either way we simply dont create enough chances for the misses to be irrelevant, which is what happens in most other teams.  As I said at the start of the season a creative partner in central midfield was essential (along with strengthening the back line ), we are still waiting.

Hux does need his partner to work with him and given he is our most talented player by far its about time Worthy got the striker (or team) to play around hux and get an understanding rather than saying its hux who isolates his partner - isnt that what the training pitch is for??

Hux has been our most consistent performer this season, whichever position he plays in.  I think he is most effective for us while playing as one of the pair, others disagree but what we cant do is drop him,  play without him and we are a mid table fizzy pop team.

Why is Hux up front?  It''s simple, he has played there for Lincoln, Newcastle, Coventry, Leeds and Man City.  It''s his position, he is just simply out-of-form in front of goal that''s all.  We could afford the luxury of playing him on the left last season but not in the PL.

Actually he played on the left for Lincoln. They used to playe 4-4-1-1 with Ainsworth a sole striker and Hucks in his "leftish" position.

Look at all the goals Norwich City have scored this season and how many have been set up by Hucks. 90pc of them. Those who say he isn''t up to Premiership standard want to think about where we''d be without him and his assists... we''d be rock bottom of this division and probably relegated allready
