Wiz was right

Recommended Posts

Didn''t Wiz say we wouldn''t get anyone though?
I think Wiz is too broad in his view of this bad transfer window. The players we did get in will most certainly do a job, but the players we didn''t get in... we didn''t get in in style.
Can we have Hooper?
... Please. Please? Pllleeeaaaassseeee? I''ll give you my... ummm... /looks through pockets... this lolly? Please? And this marble! FINE!

Given how his opinion flips and flops all over the place it is likely that something he''s warbled on about is going to be right, but I can''t think what.

This is what wiz said a week or two ago:

''We never really intended getting Graham or Hooper imo, we bid low knowing either bid would not be accepted, but hey, it keep the desperate City fans quiet for the month.........note, our offers haven''t been increased!

IF, and its a ruddy big if, we sign anyone, they''ll be a cheap ''no mark'' player who won''t improve our side one little bit.............come on down Lee Camp, followed by a CMS type soon.''

And I hate to say it he was right!!

He didnt get it spot on.

We put up near enough 7m they didn''t take it.

Wiz thinks it''s all lies and we were never going to spend over 3m on a player. don''t give him more attention.

He makes so many claims & statements like a true hocus pocus man something is bound to sound vaguely on point.

Well...

Ruddy was a reject

Holt was a lower league journeyman

Pilkington was a league 1 crock

even Bassong was a relegation specialist

Russell Martin couldn''t get into a poor P''Boro team

Johnson was nothing but a championship nobody.

it''s not about where you come from, it''s about where you''re going.

So we''re back to the ''we were just pretending to want to buy Hooper and Graham stuff''. Bonkers

While I condoned it at one point, I think it is out right bonkers to imply we didn''t actually bid any money for those players... just... why? everything is a conspiracy with Wiz. If Wiz had of said "We won''t get those players, we''ll get some lesser talent and a mostly unheard of player." That''s spot on, but he didn''t. Besides, Becchio scored 19 in the championship and so did Hooper.... go figure.

Maybe you''re right but at the end of the day we didn''t spend any money let alone 3mil. If we had spent at least 3mil like he said then some of the posters on here wouldn''t feel so frustrated and angry

Unfortunately he wasn''t right though: our offers for Hooper were increased, Graham it was clear wanted to go ''home''. Becchio is not a ''no-mark'', Kamara is an unknown quantity but hell, let''s just write him off shall we? IMO both these two and Camp improve our side: Kamara forLappin and Becchio for Moro is, for me, a potential improvement.
"We never really intended getting Graham or Hooper imo, we bid low knowing either bid would not be accepted"
I''m sorry Daniel I can''t agree that this can be construed as being "right" by anyone. He makes a statement "We never really intended getting...." which is wholly without foundation, do you really think we never intended trying to bring in the people we''ve been associated with? The old dodderer makes these sweeping statements all the time, of course we can''t prove intent just as much as he can''t prove non-intent so it''s all very childish really he''ll say "I told you so" if the player doesn''t sign and "It doesn''t matter as I''m fully behind XXXX" if he does, he doesn''t appear to have the capacity to factor in all the variables which might influence the outcome. Sad really but I do gain minor enjoyment from some of his more abstract assessments.A classic thread recently resurrected involved Wiz saying exactly the same things about Dean Ashton, right up very minute the news broke that we''d signed him. He makes lots of guesses mathematically he will be correct sometimes had he said Hooper and Graham wouldn''t sign he''d have guessed it right this time, problem is he''s ruined a perfectly good guess by quantifying it with more anti-club bile.

How thick are some people. So bidding for a player 5 times for a record 7.2 million the club was not trying clueless !!

Celtic do not have to sell their players and who can blame them.

Would we want the club to sell our top scorer no.

Same as the situation with odemwingnut for west brom well done on the club holding the ground.

Now get behind the team and new signings and with our support hopefully it will be enough

Clearly we wanted Hooper. The real question is why did we wait until the last minute to offer anywhere near their valuation giving them no time to replace him. Poor management all round, Had we been serious a week ago he would probably be playing tomorrow.

Becchio will improve the side. Kamara may improve the side.If bidding £6m is "low" then I''m glad we did.  It''s easy to spend other people''s money but are Graham or Hooper really worth that and would signing them guarantee we would stay in the Prem?More to the point, does not signing them mean we are suddenly relegated? Can you imagine this message board if we spent £10m on Hooper and he got injured 1-2 games in, or failed to settle, or was crap?"Where was the Plan B? Where was the back up?  We wasted all that money on one player!  Boo! Board out!" etc etc.The problem with whinging old gits is they can always spin any situation to find something in it to be a whinging old git about. You seem a bit younger.  Open your eyes a bit and don''t follow the old troll into the darkness.

Utter rubbish, how do you know we put up 7 million - and if they didn''t take it, why was that 7 million not used on another target - I mean, there were others were there not. It is a very typical NCFC cop out and the board are the ones, particularly McNally who give this club the ''Little Norwich'' syndrome. He stated after Luton how ''upset'' he was - utter boll***s - they had NO intention of buying any marquee players, and they will not in the summer. They have a ceiling on players wages, and they will never break that with such signings. If they manage to survive this season, then they won''t next. And McNally has the front to stick a premium onto season ticket holders to fund the Academy and doesn''t have the balls to approach supporters with this request, just puts it in small print that YOU have to opt out if YOU don''t want to pay it within a two week period. That is the guy holding the purse strings at Norwich so get used to it, as long he is able to collect his salary and bonuses this year, he will be gone next (hopefully).

Thanks for starting this Daniel.

My usual detracters miss the point again. Whether we bid X amount of cash for a player is irrelevent, we signed only ''no marks'' imo.

We traded like for like with Becchio, so in reality, we got an untried and tested MLS player who could wait ages to get here to play here.......and these new players will help keep us up?............I don''t think so!

Are you seriously all happy with that? because if you say yes then I''ll say your not being honest.

And so you''re either half right or completely wrong. Until Becchio and Kamara are given a chance nobody knows. Who are you to judge them before they''ve even pulled on our shirt and kicked a ball for us?

Disagreeing is fine and often fun, but to label three players, one of whom may well play in a crucial match for us tomorrow, as ''no marks'', is vile and inexcusable..

Wiz, do you think we should FORCE these players to sign for us by saying if you ever play against us we will break your legs or something? You cannot force anyone to join, its like us trying to force you to say something positive for once really isn''t it~? if you dont want to do it you won''t!!

Its based on actually seeing two of them play, Camp and Becchio, the MLS guy reeks of a cheap ''Cody Mac'' clone.

Celtic clearly didn''t want to sell him and were determined to get maximum cash value if they did.  If we had put in a high bid a week ago they''d have leaked it and tried to start a bidding war for him.  The reality is that anyone who wanted to sign him in this transfer window would have had to pay well over the odds.  If you look back, players who come in for an excessive fee often don''t work out.  The board have done the sensible thing of trying to get him without paying too much.  It''s their call and I think they made it right.
