Barking Mad Barclay Boy

Surely its going to be broken come 13/14 season

Recommended Posts

Most spent by the club on a player was £5.5 million for Sebastien Bassong from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012.

Im just curious what you think?

during the summer can you see us spending more than this amount on one player?

will we end up getting hooper for what i think is the asumed dizzy amount of 8million,

will we blow all our funds away on this young dutchman?

it needs to happen as i cant see us competing next season unless we bring in a proven striker.

*tin hats on* ( dont know how to get paragraphs it all just jumbles up into one clump help?)

where did you get your information from ive seen and read a few places that bassong was 5.5 maybe im wrong

even so this makes it even worse which will mean earnshaw is still our most expensive signing from 2006

which is bloody ridiculous

not sure what the transfer record is (I thought it was still Dean Ashton, although I had heard the total deal for seb may exceed that?) but I am confident that we will break the £5m barrier come the summer when planning for our thrid consecutive prem season

Should think its almost certain that our transfers in prices will be higher next season - as long as we stay up.   The pot will grow gradually over the next two or three years and that means the quality of player - and his price - will go up accordingly.     Certainly 6 or 7 million is now on the cards, but we will never be a club who can afford to go way over the top in buying players.     But, with patience, if there is such a thing in football, we will see more expensive signings coming in - along with the usual sensible signings that don''t cost as much.

Doesn''t it prove that we have done pretty well without breaking the bank. Maybe teams like QPR should learn from us.

Fair point. I have heard a few times that Bassong is our record signing due to add-ons etc. But if that is not the case then this summer we will definitely splash a large amount on our forward line. Not really a ground breaking statement I''m afraid.;-)

No doubt it will be broken, but after 2 full seasons in the Prem we''ve earned the right to spend a little more on players.

With McNally at the helm we''ll never go crazy though, which is a really good thing. Like you say, look at QPR and even Man City at the moment. Money doesn''t always bring you success.
