He could easily have put Fox on for BJ, Holt for Hoolahan and Bennett for Snodgrass and played a 4-4-2. But we were still doing ok with the current formation, just our passing an crossing in the final third was abysmal.

In fact I think he could have done pretty much whatever he wanted, Newcastle were that poor on the day. Fox definitely deserved some game time today. The midfield were dire on the ball.

As was your initial response about Paul Lambert''s current team''s performance. If you want to get all lame about it, Lambert''s team thrashed us 4-1 a few weeks ago.

The simple point Canary02 IV is making is that Lambert was a bold manager for us who went attempted to win to every game. Hughton is a conservative manager, who is happy to get a point even against relatively poor opposition.

One conclusion would be the failure to rotate certain players, especially ones which have been carrying injuries, has meant they are a bit jaded. This is a disadvantage of playing more or less the same players in the same formation week in, week out.
