Jim Smith 2,610 Posted January 19, 2013 We could have won that game but Clarke took the initiative, Hughton was shown up for being ultra conservative and ever since we have struggled. You simply can''t win gams if you give the opposition nothing to worry about. From minute 1 today we sat deep, sat off them and let them knock it around and take pot shots from 15 yards. Getting men behind the ball is one thing but they still need to tackle and get stuck in and you still need to have an atacking threat for the opposition to worry about otherwise you just end up (as we did) camped in your own half and under the cosh.We will not win another away game this season with these negative tactics and the lack os belief we seem to have in our ability to take teams on. Whats more away defeats like this make our negative approach at home to woeful Newcastle last week even more costly. Instead of settling for a point at home we should have gone for the win and ten today''s defeat migt not matter quite so much.

Canary Wundaboy 1,423 Posted January 19, 2013 I can''t disagree with any of that, Hughton is too conservative and we''re not good enough defensively to play this way. Time to up the offensive strategy.
Crafty Canary 547 Posted January 19, 2013 Offensive strategies require forwards who score regularly and we don''t have them. CH is aware of this, that''s why there are bids totalling £10M on the table. If they can be signed then,no doubt, CH will play them. If at least one isn''t signed we shall carry on and what will be will be.
......and Smith must score. 1,596 Posted January 19, 2013
We could have won that game but Clarke took the initiative, Hughton was shown up for being ultra conservative and ever since we have struggled......
Fair comment Jim, but how does that explain our awful start to the season which somehow ended up becoming a ten game unbeaten run gaining 22 points ? Baldyboy 1 Posted January 19, 2013 a 10 game unbeaten run that has punctuated TWO runs of at least SIX games without a win yielding a massive FOUR points!!!!! We have the most negative manager possible and unless he changes his style of play we are in big trouble as we have been found out!!
Highland Canary 78 Posted January 19, 2013 Jim - you''re correct. Beginning to get hard work again away games. We simply don''t look like winning. Too defensive and failing to take the initiative. However, it''s our home games that will determine whether we stay up. We have to try and beat teams like Newcastle not simply try not to lose. Big game Fulham now.
