Bayern Munich

Recommended Posts

So, with Arsenal failing to deliver at the Olympic stadium in Munich last night, Norwich remain the only British team to win there.

When we are all worrying about the league position, this gave me some inspiration and positive feelings!

With the Ipswich result, and the West Brom v Southampton score, a good night all round.

Indeed a damn good night all round.  Can Bayern draw Utd, Liverpool or Chelski in one of the next rounds if they get through?  I''m not sure how the draw is structured?  Of course Nottm Forrest have won on that ground, but not against Bayern of course!  It''ll be a fantastic feat if it''s only us.  With the baggies and Saints grinding out a draw and the scum suffering a shock loss, I was particularly enjoying my beer last night!

Well if you will let Ken Bates in charge of money

It does iritate me though that the FA/Others in charge of the project have managed to mess things up so much. Any other country would have had the stadium built by now, plus it would have cost half as much. Oh well, it better be a damn good stadium.

I remember the game like it was yesterday...

It was of course sometime in 93, and I was watching live on SAT1, a german channel...No surprise, they were shocked!

I''m pretty good in the german language, and it was hilarious hearing the german commentators, getting more and more upset as the game evolved....

Who can forget when Gossy smashed his volley behind the german keeper...Or when Crook''s splendid free-kick somehow found Bowen to nick the second...

A night I will never forget...

Tore from Norway..

It was the greatest night out of my Norwich watching career.

We had to pinch ourselves to believe the scoreline at 2-0, how Gunny kept it down to 1 heaven only knows, a hell of a night in Munich, kipped for an hour on the airport bench from about 4.00, caught a 6.30 flight the next morning and at my desk for 9.00 still on a high.

Happy days, and a record that will stand forever now!!

I to remember Bayern away with very fond memories,me and several mates spent 24 hours each way on Club Cabbage but it was so worth while and a few days that we''ll never forget.

Me and my mate Paul even managed to feature as a close up on Anglia News,me with my Norwich City Union jack firmly fixed round me.

Aaaah can still picture it now!!!

Happy days.  I went to Munich & Milan and always regretted not travelling over to Arnhem. For me Milan was really special because of the fans - we were great, in Munich too we were brilliant if I say so myself. I''m getting all misty eyed just thinking about those heady times!

You didn''t miss much in Arnhem August.

As it was the first game, a tiny (and awful) ground we decided to go the official route via Club Canary. Long old coach trip, we were dumped in some car park outside the town for 2 hours on arrival (no beer or anything) to have an escort right to the ground to stand in a hole behind bars in a trip down old memory lane. A dull 0-0 draw ensued, but we''d already done the damage.

A far cry from the great European trail to follow but well made up for by the next 2 rounds.

Happy Days!

I''ve absolutely had it with people peddling the knackered old lie that the new Wembley is costing a lot more than comparable stadia across the world.

Certain people should read, mark and inwardly digest the following extract from evidence given to the Select Committee 0n Culture Media and Sport:

"It has been reported that the cost of the new Wembley Stadium is high in comparison with other recent stadium developments. However, the total cost quoted for Wembley is inclusive of site acquisition, planning obligations allowances, fees, financing costs, and items added to the brief such as a proposed visitor attraction, hotel and office accommodation. The costs are similar on a per unit (cost per seat) basis, when compared like for like with Cardiff, Paris and Sydney.

59.1  New Wembley£3,178 per seat;
59.2  Cardiff£3,031 per seat;
59.3  Stade de France£3,351 per seat;
59.4  Stadium Australia£3,144 per seat.
