Ipswich fans booing?

Recommended Posts

Did the Ipswich supporters really boo their team off both times this week? If so, that''s pretty bad! They''ve been at the top of the Fizzy League, or thereabouts, for most of the season, so it''s really fickle if they have a go at their team when they have a couple of ''bad'' games - we don''t do that now, even when we can''t buy a win! Still, it''s good news for us - their confidence will drop and they''ll get beaten in the Play Off semi-finals, hopefully by George Burley''s team!

I think they should be applauded for making some noise. Poorman Rd is one of the quietest grounds around.

What should be taken into account is the self important pomposity of the average binner.Stuff that would be thought self deprecating humour or ironical mocking is routinely churned out in all seriousness.

Before appointing Royle, the binner I was chatting with said " this is Ipswich Town we are talking about "  Last week the another binner was complaining about the long ball game they are playing with the words "  we are one of of British football''s most respected clubs "

It is from this bizarre perspective that the silence comes. Unless they are winning the world cup or hosting the european cup final they believe they are being denied their rightful place in the grand order of things. From the perspective of the rest of football they are no more than a runty little club in the ass end of nowhere who got lucky in the same way Rene and Renato had a number one hit in the 80''s.

Probably best known now for stiffing their local support through the bungling incompetance of their red faced ,upper class chairman who appears to know as much about football as the average City fans knows about dressing up in a pearly king outfit, eating jellied eels and saying " gawd blimey guv, innit".

Now they are into playing clubs the second time around and their one trick pony(donkey) style of football has been worked out expect a few more defeats and a lot more booing.

Oh dear.

This is amusing... I was wondering as to who''s fans are like the tractors e.g. West Ham, Wolves. Or are of the opinion that they are no longer a force in English football and are now aclimatised to their position. If anyone can think of a teams who have been relegated from the top league in the last 15 years, supporters who accept their situation? What are Derby fans like for example. Am I right in thinky Sunderland a good bunch?

It was only a few months ago that Sheepshank was saying he could not think of a better run club than ITFC.  Obviously not run well enough to pay more than five pence in the pound to their creditors. Their cause is not helped by their local rags who at various times have priced Matt Holland at £12m, James Scowcroft at £3m and now Darren Bent at £20m. By poor management and awful signings of overpriced foreign players the club is bankrupt and just a run of the mill team in a very poor division.

Their only defence to the fact they are an inferior club is to go back to the days of black and white telly and flared trousers.
