Canary Boy 0 Posted January 3, 2013 Wow, that is a bit of a surprise.CH has stated that Declan Rudd will start on Saturday against Peterborough, no reflection on Mark Bunn, it''s something he decided a while ago.Thoughts?
Canary Boy 0 Posted January 3, 2013 Sorry, mistake - before you all jump on me.Got my dates muddled, I meant Peterborough.
Beauseant 0 Posted January 3, 2013
Sorry, mistake - before you all jump on me.Got my dates muddled, I meant Peterborough.
Simply because its a cup game and a chance to get some game time into reserve players. Bunn will be back for Newcastle as, despite the usual scapegoating on here, he''s done pretty well.

Ginja 43 Posted January 3, 2013 I can''t say I''m surprised, this game is a chance for our fringe players to prove themselves, it''s not like it matters if we win or not, the perfect time to experiment
ZLF 335 Posted January 3, 2013 If Ruddy was not injured I would have expected Bunn to play - pure rotation and nothing else
It's Character Forming 1,204 Posted January 3, 2013 Good decisionAt one point in the WBA game a challenge left Bunn on the deck for a few minutes. Rudd is now the backup if Bunn gets injured so more game time under his belt is good and it will give him time to establish some rapport with the defence. It''s not impossible he could start to challenge Bunn for the starting slot at the momentIMO we have several players who need a rest and some others who could do with a game to show their potential for a starting position, if they can. Not wholesale changes like the league cup. But I''d still be ok with 4-5 changes.
Hannibal II 0 Posted January 3, 2013 Out of Rudd or Steer i would much rather we played Steer to be frank he looked a much better keeper in the games he played for us last year than Rudd did.
ZLF 335 Posted January 3, 2013 But steer is out on loan still, so rudd is the right choice
AJ 1,359 Posted January 3, 2013 Rudd deserves a go, definitely, he deserves his chance to make a statement against Bunn
