Salopian 1 Posted January 6, 2013 In his post match interview at Peterborough he used his usual phrase, "We''re working very hard but it''sdifficult." I am not entirely sure what CH means by this, because they surely have a list of possible targets which has been produced over the last 2 or 3 months, partly in respnse to Scouting reports and in the light of player performance. Do they start at the top of their list, with the most desirable target? Do they make initial contacts elsewhere in case the most preferred faills through? It is a difficult process for them, especially as as the managers of targets will be inclined to push the price up for various reason. They are also operating on a limited budget. The interview was revealing, in that although CH said that they will improve the squad wherever they can do at reasonable price, he repeated that we need to score goals. It seems that strikers are among his most desirable targets. He recognises that we have been lacking clinical finishing, and this has been his almost constant theme since about September. I think that we may assume that they are looking for a striker, or two. Names have been rumoured, and may reflect enquiries which have been made to see who is available and at what price. In this category come Graham, Mulenga, Hooper probably, and others. In some ways it does not matter which - most of the strikers mentioned have good current scoring records. In the end, I fear, it will be a simple matter of price against limited budget, but I think that we may have to pay £3m upwards and break our spending record! Rolf Harris 33 Posted January 6, 2013 for us to get their player, they must first get a replacement. I gather why things my be difficult.

Hannibal II 0 Posted January 7, 2013 it might of been a bit of a pipe dream but i really thought if we''d of gone for him we could of got Giuseppe Rossi from Villareal. after all they had been relegated to the second tier of spanish football, he had spent time in England with Man Utd and after his injury would of been cheap for a striker of his proven ability but i see he has just signed for Fiorentina for 5 millions or there abouts which i am pretty gutted about. Oz Canary 0 Posted January 7, 2013 I would like to see the following players brought in-1. Gary Hooper2. Joseph Mulenga3. Danny Graham4. Chris Eagles
Yelloow Since 72 56 Posted January 7, 2013 I would like to see the following players brought in-1. Gary Hooper2. Joseph Mulenga3. Danny Graham4. Chris EaglesThat would only cost about 18m. Laudrup has ruled out selling Graham, the Mulenga rumour was a hoax and it appears that CH was at Celtic to see Kayal rather than Hooper (too expensive methinks). There''s also CMS, but Brighton say they''re not selling. If it is only 1 or 2 players coming in, I''d like to see a focus on quality with the money available. Ibrahima Toure, for example, or somebody of that calibre.
Webbo118 0 Posted January 7, 2013 Is it really necessary to start a new thread or am I wrong in thinking that transfer targets haven''t recently been discussed?

shefcanary 2,955 Posted January 7, 2013 I''d laugh if Becchio jooned us from feeder club - this link implies it Leeds are trying to create interest and raise the fee (typical Colin tactic of dropping hints in press through an intermediary). http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20932995
KeelansGlove 0 Posted January 7, 2013 The Danny Graham rumour was a waste of space, never would be for sale and if he was never coming to us.I very much doubt we will have heard of any strikers we sign Hooper again was never going to happen.Hope we were in for Bridcutt he had a great game against Newcastle on Saturday. Think the squad is looking good just another couple of strikers, maybe one for now and one for the future.I fancied Chris Wood but he went to Leicester. We can could pay 8-10 Million if the right player became available especially as we dont really need to strengthen in other positions. Just bored opf waiting now. Would be a fatal mistake to not sign a striker.
York Canary 29 Posted January 7, 2013 Calm down. We''re 7 days in. There''s been little movement in the entire market to be fair and it''s a game of cat and mouse atm. Still 3 weeks left yet
KeelansGlove 0 Posted January 7, 2013 Not worried, trust Hughton and Mcnally just hope we dont have to wait another 3 weeks
Highland Canary 78 Posted January 7, 2013 It would be nice to have our striking options improved for the key Newcastle game but failing that our next potentially winnable game is not until 2 February and QPR.
Yelloow Since 72 56 Posted January 7, 2013 That''s a bit negative Highland. Liverpool away will be difficult but Tottenham at home seems possible, given City''s recent form against Spurs. It would be great to have a new striker before Newcastle, especially if Holt and Moro are still out.
Highland Canary 78 Posted January 7, 2013 I hope you''re right! It was great to be at those Spurs away games but it was a bit like the Bale show last time at Carra.
Cantiaci Canary 610 Posted January 7, 2013 I''m bracing myself for a nailbiting final day wait for a striker! I can already see myself incredulously watching SSN at 11pm as no news comes in from Norwich and crazy rumours & wrist slitting agony drown the Pinkun Message board!
