BedsCanary 0 Posted March 1, 2005 DELIA ON HALF-TIME MESSAGE A statement from Norwich City Football Club joint majority shareholder Delia Smith:"As I said last night and have said many, many times before, our supporters are the best in the world."First and foremost Michael and I are passionate Norwich City supporters. My message to the fans at half-time last night was a totally spontaneous appeal from the heart aimed at trying to do everything we could to get behind Nigel Worthington and the team."I was remembering the amazing response from our supporters when we were 4-1 down with 12 minutes to go against Middlesbrough recently and they sang their hearts out. The media all agreed with Nigel after the game that the tremendous reaction from our fans in that situation had been a key factor in the amazing turnaround which followed and described them as ''adding a 12th man''."Maybe in the heat of the moment I didn''t choose the best words, but what I was trying to do last night was tap in to that again."I love this Club and I love our fans and I''m proud of the vocal support they have given the team throughout the season, home and away. That''s why I chose to sit with them at Everton and at many other games since I became a director - and that''s why I will proudly sit with them in the Barclay Stand again on Saturday when we play Chelsea and at Bolton a week later." Plastic Scouser 0 Posted March 1, 2005 Whatever your opinions on what she said, you have to love the lady - she would do anything for this club and as a true supporter she too feels the need to criticize on occasions - hey isn''t that what this board is for, whilst she may have felt the effects of a good dinner last night, she has every right to speak her mind - she is after all a passionate supporter of the club. Don''t criticize her for that.
Essexiled Canary 0 Posted March 1, 2005 Thats fair enough!! I''m sure we all know what its like when we are so full of rage or passion and the words don''t come out right, doesn''t help when you''ve prob had a bit(??!??!) to drink!!
Making Plans 957 Posted March 1, 2005 Let''s hope she''s paying (at least double) for the seat in the Barclay
John Boubepo 0 Posted March 1, 2005 I for one didn''t need the official explanation, I knew where Delia was coming from and as I said before - she''s one of us and you just have to love her!
John Boubepo 0 Posted March 1, 2005
Let''s hope she''s paying (at least double) for the seat in the Barclay
Well if she sits beside you in the Barclay, you had better sing because I hear she''s going to wear some @rse kicking boots this time - good on her! Dexx 0 Posted March 1, 2005 Instead of going on the pitch at half time she should have gone in the changing room and ripped in to them about our AGAIN poor defending !!! singings great for moral but dont stop the ball going into the back of our net.
DumbleDelia is Magic 0 Posted March 1, 2005 It seems to me that in the heat of the moment she just picked the wrong words. It was obviously a rousing speech for the crowd, rather than an attack on the crowd. All the same though, a pretty foolish thing to do

Plus if she thinks sitting with the fans in the Barclay will make amends then shes got that wrong too!
AJ 1,359 Posted March 1, 2005 For what delia''s done for the club i can see where shes coming from. But i think last night was a bit over the top. She admits her words wernt the best chosen..... and i agree. Sitting in the barclay iosnt going to do anything. Prehaps we should sign delia as our new star defender.
