Our highest ever squad number

Recommended Posts

I can only ever remember one ridiculously high one leroy lita 44 but obviously you get some ridiculous ones, Gary hooper at Celtic (88?)

So does lita remain the highest?

What about the lowest inappropriate one for instance I think Dempsey is no. 2 at spurs...I guess 5 for Steve Morison is probably the most memorable for us. 6 for a winger in huckerby I guess was quite low too
At Milan I think Ronaldinho had 99
That was Antonio Cassano & Original Ronaldo, Ronaldinho was 80 at Milan.

Indeed he did. I believe there was a stage where the Argentinian squad assigned numbers alphabetically - meaning Ardiles wore number 1. System changed soon after to allow Maradona to have the number 10 shirt.

On a side note - a Moroccan player once wore 00 whilst at Aberdeen.
Clearly Ronaldo had an affinity with 99s.

I know what the lowest shirt number was - Hicham Zerouali (RIP) of Aberdeen. No clues to what his shirt number was then?

A great lil'' centre forward BTW...shame.

I might have imagined this but I''m sure at one club Les Ferdinand and another striker both wanted the "9" shirt so Ferdinand ended up with the "99" shirt instead.
