norfolkchance1 0 Posted October 11, 2012 So much for trumpeting themselves as a big club when they wanted Lambert and made that approach, looks like they can''t even hold on when their manager is wanted from a club in the league below.http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/9979008.Cherries__Howe_set_for_Dean_Court_return/
BroadstairsR 2,273 Posted October 11, 2012 Bournemouth have come into a big bit of dosh now, some benefactor or other has discovered a penchant for cherries. Perhaps he suffers from gout. I have had a soft spot for that club since John Bond constantly raided them during his managerial time here, and much to our benefit. There but for the grace of Bondy. I hope now that some sort of revenge is not now on the cards after all these years and they start raiding us. Karma? No, in reality more Kermit and a frog can''t likely change into a prince after all.
Bill 1,788 Posted October 11, 2012 Or in reality some dodgy Russian bought half of the club, with the rest being owned by and even dodgier local developer - who has had numerous run ins with the local council over anauthorised building work around the ground. A pee poor squad has seen the club tumblling down the table, the manager sacked, gates down to their lowest in years and a crowd of around 250 prostesting outside the main stand after the last home game - where said developer came out and told them to **** off ! The idea that this club could come raiding us is about as likely as Wroxhan coming to raid us. Yes, I feel sorry for their fans having a club sat in a delightful part of town with the sharks circling trying to grab and develop what they can - or benefactors, as some would have it. I wonder how badly we would have to run our club before we got into such a state ?

Mister Chops 7 Posted October 11, 2012 Well, at least Owen Coyle is available.
Robert Parsons 0 Posted October 11, 2012 Great picture Nutty. I think I can pick out John Bond, Mel Machin, John Benson, David Jones, Cozy Powell, Ken Brown, Charlie Boyer & Super Mac but it seems a long long time ago and my mind may have peaked and be heading downhill! Some of my favourite ever Norwich players all lining up for Bournemouth. Those were the days.RP
BroadstairsR 2,273 Posted October 11, 2012 Yes good picture. I was reluctant to comment as my powers of recognition seem to have waned. Perhaps due to all that hair on show. That''s six players and two management. Bournemouth were a goldmine for us at the time. I think there were more though. Kevin Bond was one and where did Kevin Reeves comes from? A gravy train for NCFC.
BroadstairsR 2,273 Posted October 11, 2012 "and where did Kevin Reeves comes from?" Wiki says, would you believe, Bournemouth. Somebody else of significance came as well, but I cannot quite recall who.
Smudger 0 Posted October 12, 2012 Howe did we end up spending £2/3 mil on Hughton and Calderwood?Eddie would have been able to do a better job at half the price in my humble opinion.
nutty nigel 7,902 Posted October 12, 2012 Broady, from that picture I think we had John Bond, Ken Brown, Mel Machin, John Benson, David Jones, Tony Powell, Phil Boyer and Ted MacDougall. MacDougall came via Man U & West Ham. There may be others I''ve forgotten. Later I remember Kevin Reeves, Mark Nightingale and Roger Brown. And of course later still Efan Ekoku. Devils Advocate. 0 Posted October 12, 2012 Would the goalkeeper be Fred Davies ?. he came as part of the Machin deal and became a coach here. I have a feeling that we took so many of Bournemouth''s squad that they took some kind of legal action against us?
nutty nigel 7,902 Posted October 12, 2012 I''m not sure if it''s Fred Davies on that picture. He was at Bournemouth then and you''re right he did come here as a coach. Another who came as a coach and must be on that picture is John Sainty. That was the season that Bournemouth beat Margate 11-0 in the FA Cup. The game was on MOTD and MacDougall scored 9!! The goal I remember was a diving header.
nutty nigel 7,902 Posted October 12, 2012 Here''s Norwich from the same season ..
Devils Advocate. 0 Posted October 12, 2012 John Sainty was Sir Arthur South''s original choice to replace John Bond when he went to Man City, as he assumed that Bond would not be parted from Ken Brown.Don''t think that Sainty ever achieved much in the game ? nutty nigel 7,902 Posted October 12, 2012 That''s interesting Devils. I didn''t know that. In the end it was Sainty who followed Bond to Man City. After that I think he managed Chester. Of that Norwich 71/72 picture I think 4 went on to play for Bournemouth. Clive Payne, Trevor Howard, Geoff Butler and Doug Livermore on loan.
crabbycanary 2 Posted October 12, 2012 Howe has gone back to Bournemouth, very interesting to see if the same success can be achieved second time round.
shefcanary 2,955 Posted October 12, 2012 Blimey, if that''s happened how about Coyle back to Burnley.............. Then Lambert back to Norwich
