The Barcelona vs. Celtic Thread

Recommended Posts

Don''t quite know why Celtic think they have a chance.

Seen a few fans on Twitter suggest they are going to put a fiver on Samaras to score first, or Celtic to win.

While anyone can win any game, Celtic are no where near the level of Arsenal/Man.U/Chelsea in the CL, and those three have had to play some of their best games to get close to Barca. Chelsea found a way (well copied Mourinho at Inter''s way) of ''beating'' Barca.

To be honest, Celtic will have done well if they managed to lose by 3.

I think Celtic will get at least one. Barca''s defence is woeful at the moment. It''s just unfortunate that their attack is reasonably good.......Plus you can get odds of around 7-5 for BTTS tonight which is a massive price! [Y]

Barcelona don''t really have a defence.

Alves is pretty much a winger. Alba the same. Both can play FB, but they are as attacking a FB as you''ll find.

And then Puyol is injured about 70% of the season nowadays, Pique isn''t much better. So they play Song, Busquets & Mascharno as CBs. Masch is pretty good at CB now, since its pretty much the only position he''s played since joining Barca. But they are very dodgy at defending set pieces. And Valdes wouldn''t even make top 10 GKs in Europe. They''d be better off with Ruddy, and that isn''t even a joke, he probably is a better GK than Valdes.

Both teams to Score is probably the best bet for every Barca game, because until Pique and Puyol are fit at the same time, or they buy another proper CB they are always going to look like conceding.

If they play Busquets at CB he''ll most certainly be wasted as he is a crucial player to have in the midfield

Yep, that''s swung it for me.

4-0 Celtic.

Celtic were 45-1 at one stage to win. Longest odds ever for a British Club away. Now best price is 25-1.

High scoring game for me tonight, with the majority scored by Barca.

Gary Hooper scoring the only goal in a 1-0 Celtic win = 115/1... (Holt was 100/1 to score the only goal in a 1-0 win over Arsenal)

Well done Celtic!   Looked like they were going to get the draw right up to the last seconds and surprised many with coming away from the Neu Camp with a narrow defeat.   Forster had a very good game.

Haha, those guys who went for Samaras to score first will be pretty happy. I wouldn''t have ever been surprised at him scoring, just thought Barca would start strong after such a close result at the weekend.

Well played Celtic though, 2-1 loss certainly is far from the worst result a team of their ability could have had at Barca, and to lose so late on, very unlucky.
