Dowd played on to let Holt through, but had Herd not already been on a yellow, I''m pretty sure he would have come back when the ball was out of play and booked him. I think Dowd used the Holt chance as an excuse not to send off a second player.

I’ve always thought that Dowd just makes the rules up as he goes along and blows for whatever he feels like whenever he wants. Which is what he did yesterday.

I think the foul on Wes was a straight red in itself. The fact Herd was already on a yellow makes it an appalling decision by Dowd, who I think had a reasonable view.
