Because although some people are happy to pay those prices-many won''t.It doesn''t bode well for the future...in the long term.What happens if we go down and they charge £35.Do you reckon we would fill our ground? Do you reckon people will spend money in the ground on food and drinks? Will people use the club shop as often? etc etc  A lot of issues surround this.

I suppose it comes down to how much you want to go. There are certainly people that are priced out, then there are people who make sacrifices to go and there are others who can''t or won''t make those sacrifices. Without question there has been a cultural shift in who goes to games, all seater stadia, the hospitality and corporate side, the fact you''re now unlikely to get your head kicked in. Luckily for me, by quitting fags I had a revenue stream that covered football.

Some fans will pay those rises, but they will be in a small minority IMO. They do the rest of us a disservice because if they voted with their feet we''d see prices come down.

Of course we all have a choice and obviously we can all take the view we don''t want to pay it but the reason I am angry about ticket prices at present (which don;t affect me as I have a season ticket anyway) is more the long term impact on my club. I like to see the ground full. I like to see the local community engaged in the club and attending matches regularly. i don''t like to think of fellow fans being priced out of watching their team and more than anything i think its completely unecessary to price out sections of our own fan base when the club is as financially sound as it has been for some time. If they had charged £35 a ticket for this match rather than £45/50 it would in my view make little or no difference to our budget next season as for a premiership football club, particularly one like ours where there are only 5-6000 casual tickets on sale for each match, casual ticket sales are becoming an increasingly small part of overall income.

Its short sighted and in my view its not in the long term interests of our club to price fans out of watching their team but then i guess its ok as they can watch the league cup game instead for a bargain £30. In fact a cynic might say this price has been geared to make the spurs game appear more of a bargain!

The game will sell out. There are fans who will pay, Fans who suposedly are our next generation, though they didn''t know that a few seasons back - and will probably quickly forget that fact if we slip back into the Championship.

 

Yes it is very galling to see others happily stump up, what I see from my perspective of a supporter of a fair few decades, as a very high price. Where were they years back ?  Many who I grew up with and not only had little interest in City but in football in general - but now turn up at carrow Road with their recollections going back to the autumn of 2009.

 

These prices will no effect on future attendances, Future prices might, as will certainly future league positions. We are a victim of our own success. All those who stayed with the club in the grim late 90''s, the mid 2000''s never probably thought about the consequences of getting back into the Premier League as far as attendances went.

 

Perhaps happy times when you could pay your way into the Barclay, buy a drink in the bar at the back and sit up on the grass - and still watch top flight football/ A game for working class hereberts at working class herberts prices.

That is by no means certain. Obviously the size of the waiting list (which the club seems not to have announced) is an unknown factor here, but in general terms over a period of years fans - literally and metaphorically - die out and have to be replaced for the numbers to stay the same. Lose a generation through too-high prices for teenagers and too-high prices for adults who are going to be out of work when the majority of job cuts come in 2013 and there is likely to come a time when numbers will fall and stay down, even if prices are then lowered.

And that is just with the current capacity. The directors do seem now to be downplaying the imminence of a 35,000-seat stadium, but if that is still the intention then this is not the way to go about attracting 8,000 extra fans.

Lots of good points been made on here already.

 

My big concern is the one that Purple has pointed out about pricing out a generation along with employment difficulties and the subsequent financial problems they bring. Norfolk is carrying a lot of unemployed people and will get worse before it gets better. Exiled fans are finding travel is getting more expensive so this prices many out of coming regularly.

 

Next year will see gas and electric bills hiked massively once the coal-fired power stations are closed and I would bet that will impact on some people coming to football - 30 quid to heat the house or go towards a footie ticket. No contest for those with families.

 

A football implosion is on the cards at some point. We have seen several clubs in administration recover but 1 day 1 club won''t.
