Norma Stick 0 Posted September 1, 2012 Just listened to Alex Tettey on Soccer Saturday. They had interviewed him after training at Colney. To paraphrase, he said "there was no structure, just go out and play" and compared this to his training with Rennes where he said there was emphasis on possession. No structure.......................go out and play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What the bloody hell are Hughton, Calderwood and Trollope running at Colney? A playground? What are these clowns doing? Google Bot 3,260 Posted September 1, 2012 Did he indicate whether that was directed at the team, or just himself at all?
Norma Stick 0 Posted September 1, 2012 I got the impression that it was in general, not aimed at him particularly
Steady On... 0 Posted September 1, 2012 Did someone say...Whats going on in training. ..... Deja Vu...
Herman 9,743 Posted September 1, 2012 Anywhere i can hear the whole interview? I''m never happy with snippets of an interview as they can be taken out of context,to suit someones agenda or prejudice.
Steady On... 0 Posted September 1, 2012 I think the only way we''re going to get to the bottom of this is to ring up Neil Adams on Canary Call and ask him whats going on in training.
curly_whirly_tipz 0 Posted September 1, 2012 When was this interview, as when the let fans watch before a game they often just ''go out and play''. I''m sure Hughton knows what he is doing. You guys need to relax! Lambert is gone, yes he may have been a genious but Hughton hasn''t been given a chance to prove himself or his team yet. Sit back and enjoy... Herman 9,743 Posted September 1, 2012
Sorry but have never been a fan of Calderwood or Trollope.
Fair enough, pretty understandable when they were managers. But as we found out with Granty, some are better suited as number 2s or 3s.Lets hope it''s the case with these two. Norfolk Mustard 94 Posted September 1, 2012 In order for the coaches to make their professional assessment during training, ''go out and play'' seems a perfectly reasonable request!
Chunky Norwich 0 Posted September 1, 2012 Apparently it''s what Wenger does and he is praised for it by Lee Dixon
gorlestongirl 0 Posted September 1, 2012 I remember players saying after the training camp in Germany, that the training was superb, very demanding, and that they did a lot of work on possession etc. So I guess the style and tempo is varied. Tettey has been at the Club for a week. It''s a bit disingenuous to seize on his remarks to criticise the whole management regime, or to back up an exisitng dislike. JF 694 Posted September 1, 2012 Just put this in the other thread about it. To me he seemed quite shocked and it indicated that it was unprofessional. His comments were there is no structure, in Rennes we concentrated on things like keeping possession but here it''s just go out and play.
Branston Pickle 3,651 Posted September 1, 2012 Yeah, that''s right - Hughton was coach/asst manager at spurs for 14 years, then managed Newcastle and Brum, yet doesn''t know how to do training. Obviously there is no ''context'' issue at all....

Branston Pickle 3,651 Posted September 1, 2012 Read this - I don''t think it is a criticism, merely a comment on how football is played over here....it is a fact that we don''t just do possession football in England, it is a mixture.http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city-fc/new_norwich_city_signing_alexander_tettey_ready_to_make_his_mark_in_premier_league_1_1501339
Salopian 1 Posted September 1, 2012 I prefer to see our flair players with their lovely one touch football at their best. I suspect that you can make players like machines, which may be effective but is a little boring. Barcelona I often find boring - short square passing backwards and forwards, but they are more than redemmed by the flair and vision as they pass and dart on goal. Having said that, perhaps what we lack at the moment is steadiness in front of goal, when we often blaze wide or high. Perhaps training on this among the strikers ought to be more widespread. I can''t comment on general training, but they are watched and regularly CH refers to players having done well in training, and he expects some competition in these sessions, as players try to impress him and be picked for Saturday. I would have to say that with eight players new when Tettey arrived, perhaps less directed training is needed until everyone knows others and their games. Now we are in the season, with known opponents coming along, more specialised training becomes necessary to try to counter the opposition, at least I hope so.
